All In Recovery, LLC
Transitional living for men and women seeking a new life in recovery.
The best weapon against self pity is to count your blessings. In early recovery when I was physically sick, mentally challenged with anxiety, and spiritually bankrupt. My first very sponsor used to tell me to have a good day. I thought he was crazy to tell me something like that in the condition I was in. He taught me that having a good day started with a decision to have a good day. He taught me how to create a gratitude list. No matter how difficult the situations we find ourselves in. There are always things to be grateful for. The things outside myself slowly changed for the better. However the greatest gift was my ability to change my thinking. This led to good feelings about my situation in life. I start my list with gratitude for being clean and finding this new way of life. Today with the opioid epidemic we are loosing to many addicts to death. Just for today, I am going to count my blessings and have a beautiful day........Love You
In my second step, I came to believe that I could be restored to sanity by a loving God. What remains an issue is that so often I remained blind to the need for change. In steps four and five is where I began to identify the patterns of my behaviors that kept repeating themselves. I came to realize the role that past trauma played in my repeated failure to develop healthy, loving and lasting relationships. So many times I would bring the past into present relationships and remain blind to the destructive nature of doing so. I was then then bound to continue the insanity of failed relationships. Sometimes at the root of passed trauma lies rage. Left unresolved it keeps manifesting in new relationships and destroys them. Identifying these patterns allowed me to seek the help I needed to heal and put to rest the insanity of repeating them. I learned that the sins of the past need not continue to destroy my present and future relationships. The healing I found in working the steps is miraculous. It allows me to love free from my passed failures. In Essences, I became a new man capable of being loved and loving others unconditionally. I achieved this with God’s help simply through working the steps. Just for today, I will continue to examine my behavior in my tenth step....Love You
Today is a new day that was given to us, not to correct yesterday mistakes but to learn from them. Today the opportunity is at hand to not only learn but also to take that preventative step as well. They say the hardest part of a 1000 mile journey is the first step, let today be your first step.
