I am preparing to leave Fremont to move to Lompoc CA. Made the announcement at troop 449 meeting tonight. Transition should be complete by August 25. Don't worry, I will be back for court of honor on September 11.

Sometimes we get to have fun. Redwood deck in Fremont, CA. Plastic skeleton will make for an interesting find in 20 or more years.

I built this fence 13 years.ago. Posts and rails are solid, fence boards could use a good cleaning and staining. 3 feet of soil fill behind the fence. More recently they put an addition on the house.

Demolition, you say? These 2 concrete planter boxes were thick and reinforced. No cracks to exploit. Concrete is mostly turned into rubble.

Palo Alto project. Self draining pavers, French drains, gabions and one big arbor!

I built this fence in the spring of 1993. Not bad considering I am replacing fences built by others that are only 10 years old.

In 1986, after hearing the space shuttle disaster, I got to plant these Redwood trees. They now measure up to 9 feet in diameter, and maybe 90 feet tall. A fitting tribute to our fallen astronauts. Atherton, CA

Finished deck repairs and staining.

How do you plant Bamboo? Start with a big hole and 24 inches of aluminium flashing. Don't want it to get away. Lol.

Deck repairs, pressure washing, sanding and staining. This deck has decent redwood surface, but all supporting members are untreated pine. 4x6 beams fully destroyed by dry rot, joists are damaged where they connected to the beams. Contractor used joists hangers, that helped. I installed new pressure treated 4x6, and 2x6 sleepers to reinforce what is left of the step and leading edge.

Synthetic turf installation complete. Kids started playing on it as soon as we opened the roll. I highly recommend this turf for shady areas that are hard to grow real grass. Turf is soft and cool in the shade, no mud!
