Let’s talk about your thyroid
•We recently just had a regular client find out that her hyperthyroidism was acting up. She went to her doctor and had a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) test done with her doctor because she was feeling awful the last 6 months. No energy, very irritable, etc. She found out a few weeks prior to this test, her thyroid levels were extremely low. She was testing at a .11 when she should have been somewhere between 2.0 to 4.0.
We noticed a lot of breakage in her hair, it was super dry, it felt awful, and her color (she gets on the scalp bleach) wasn’t lifting as even and nice as it was. After about 6 months, she found out that her medication for her thyroid was way too high. As a result for that, her hair was breaking, she (as she said) “felt like crap all the time”, she said she had some weight gain and so many other issues.
After 11 days off of her medicine she finally is starting to feel good, her hair is feeling amazing again, her lightener is lifting how it’s supposed to and her TSH levels are back to a normal level of 2.45.
With this being said, we wanted to let our clients know that taking medicine like a thyroid medication, an antibiotic or a steroid, can make your hair, skin, and nails act up or change and if you are taking or have taken anything within about two months of your last appointment please let us know so we can be aware if you hair or nails aren’t feeling or staying the same color, texture or have felt different overall. That way, we can make changes or help educate you on how it does effect your appointment. It can and will cause breakage in your hair, your color could not be the same over time (color or feel) and you skin can change as well as your nails.
No, we aren’t doctors, but we can see things and feel things when they change when you’re in our chair and we want to be able to help you with those changes and make sure you are feeling good!
We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and such happy holidays!
We will be back in the salon tomorrow like normal!
Just a heads up, a lot of our stylists are already booked from now until February or March! If you’d like to make an appointment, please call your stylist if she makes her own book, or call the salon ( 7704666615 ) to make appointments!
Have a safe New Years! ❤️

Just a little insight on drug store products!
Not all are bad but some are definitely worth checking the ingredients in. Many shampoos pan strip your color and cause your color to fade faster. And they can also cause build up on your hair that can interfere with getting highlights and/or getting color.
Most people think hairdressers suggest good shampoo to make extra money off their clients. However, THIS is proof how bad build up can get on the hair!
I was lightening a woman’s hair yesterday and noticed how resistant it was to lighten, and this I realized why. What u see at the bottom of this processing cap is buildup literally melting off the hair! The ingredients in certain shampoos are basically coating your hair with plastic. It may feel “silky smooth” at first, but after a while you get so much buildup your hair dies from the inside out, because it can’t get any moisture through the layer of coating.
Makes you think twice before grabbing that Pantene off the shelf next time 😉
Side note: everyone wondering what’s a good shampoo; your main focus is to look for products without silicone, sulfates, or parabens.
GOOD AFTERNOON!
We have some great news!
This past week, we have been given to “go ahead” to open up the salon COMPLETELY.
Yes, we know we have been open already. BUT, with this information we can have more people in the salon, we can get our waiting area back in order, and get back to a “more normal” life here at the salon.
Our stylist will still wear their masks and we will still be doing our cleaning precautions because it just makes sense. 🤷🏼♀️
If you still want to wear your mask inside the salon you are definitely free to do that! You know we don’t mind that at all!
We want everyone to feel comfortable in the salon again and hoping we have been doing that since day one.
We ALL thank you so so much! This is be a great summer!

Leslie did an AMAZING color “correction” this Saturday. This was a work in progress and the second time she has been in to get back to a great shape and a great color!
Good afternoon!!
We just wanted to give a little update on the salon!
We are still doing the regular Covid procedures in the salon (call when you arrive, cleaning after every client, taking temps, etc.) and we have also changed the desk around.
The desk is now facing the doors and the old exit door is now the enter door.
It will take a while to get used to so we will mark them in the next day or so.
Spring is also right around the corner (hopefully because we’re all sick of the cold!) so make your appointments soon!

We hope all of you had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
We love you all and wish you health, happiness and a great new year!
