Creative Communication
Creative Communication hosts poetry contests for kids K-9 to publish their work. We are dedicated to inspire students and support teachers!
Creative Communication works with language arts teachers across the US. We sponsor student writing contests for students in grades K-9. The best entries are published into poetry and essay anthologies. We are selective enough that it is an honor to be accepted, but not so exclusive it is discouraging to enter. Our Classroom Rewards Program helps fund classroom supplies for teachers across the Unit

🌟 Welcome to our student spotlight! 🌟
Today’s student of the week is Julnar! They were published in our Summer 2025 book with their poem "Thread of Hope." Hear them introduce themselves, and learn a little about the inspiration behind their poetry:
"What inspired me to write is the constant hope I hold onto, even when things don’t go as planned. Writing became my way of turning setbacks into something meaningful and finding light in those moments. Besides writing, I enjoy playing soccer. It’s a way for me to clear my mind, stay active, and sometimes it even inspires my creativity when I come back to writing. In the future, I’d like to become a neurologist. I’ve always been fascinated by how the brain works, and I want to make a difference by helping people through that field, while continuing to write along the way, maybe even a medical series!"
Give Julnar a big CONGRATS on being published, and be sure to swipe to read the entirety of their poem!

This Fall 2025 contest will be the last contest Creative Communication hosts.
For 30 years, our founders Tom and Gaylen have worked to provide this opportunity for students to become published. As they go into a well-deserved retirement, they have made the difficult decision to shut down the company. Our Fall 2025 contest will have an extended entry deadline of December 18th.
A word from Tom: “Thank you for the many years of trusting us with your student’s fantastic poetry and the relationships that have been created with our company. I cannot tell you how impressed we are with the quality of writing sent in to our contest over the years.”
Though we are heartbroken to see the company go, we are thankful for all the time we’ve had working with our wonderful teachers and reading all of our talented students’ poetry. We hope to make this last contest a great one, and are excited to see what new opportunities might arise for young writers in the future.
We ask that the bulk of your entries are made by December 18th. We will allow some late entries until January 8th, when all new entries will be cut off and no new entries will be judged. Please, do not re-enter students who have already entered this contest.

Today’s student of the week is Krutika! They were published in our Spring 2025 book with their poem "Waves of Uncertainty." Hear them introduce themselves, and learn a little about the inspiration behind their poetry:
"Hi! My name is Krutika, and I'm a 15 year old sophomore from Wisconsin. I love to read and write, and it's definitely something that I have picked up from the time I was young. Thanks to encouragement from my parents and teachers, I have been lucky to publish 6 books on Amazon! Typically timed around the holidays, I try to publish at least once a year. All proceeds from the sale goes to a charity that aligns with me from my childhood, the Wisconsin Humane Society! Inspired by my favorite band, ENHYPEN, my poem, "Waves of Uncertainty", shows the internal conflict of uncertainty on trust after past hurt has stilled, and how one waits for the road ahead to figure out what they want their next step to be."

Today’s student of the week is Kayla! They were published in our Summer 2025 book with their poem "The Reality." Hear them introduce themselves, and learn a little about the inspiration behind their poetry:
"I've loved reading since I was in 2nd grade, and as I started reading more books, my interest in books went up as well. As time went by, it seemed as if my writing skills were also enhanced. As I began 7th grade, we would have projects about poems and such, and I found out that I was a good poet, so I decided that I would like to enter a poem competition, out of hundreds that I viewed, this one was the one that stood out to me the most. I guess what inspired my poem was su***de victims, I would see stories about it everywhere and I wanted to write a poem about what happens after."

Today’s student of the week is Isaac! They were published in our Summer 2025 book with their poem "What a Test." Hear them introduce themselves, and learn a little about the inspiration behind their poetry:
"My name is Isaac T. and I like the color light blue, it's a great and wonderful color. Speaking of light blue, I love the light blue ocean. One last thing I'd like to mention is I love seals, like a lot!
What inspired me? After I got a bad grade I asked my teacher if there's any extra credit I could do, she said that if I submit a poem on the website I could get 25 extra points. So I checked out the website and it looked great, many poems everywhere, I just had to figure out what I would write about. Instead of writing about things like blossoms, nature, and wars like my classmates, I got inspired by something interesting, tests, yes you're hearing that correctly, my test. How did I get the idea from a test? Because I got the bad grade. So then I just thought about what happens on tests, like how nerve racking it is and the feeling of passing or failing. Then boom, I finally made the poem "What a Test" and just like that it was complete."
Give Isaac a big CONGRATS on being published, and be sure to swipe to read the entirety of their poem!
