The American Optometric Association recommends an infant eye exam between 6 and 12 months to check for things like proper eye alignment, focusing ability, and any early signs of vision problems. And the best part? It's quick, gentle, and doesn't require your baby to "read" anything.

Glaucoma is called the silent thief of sight, and for good reason.

It slowly damages your eye's optic nerve, usually from pressure building up inside the eye. Because it starts with your side vision, most people don't notice anything is wrong until real damage is done, and that vision can't be brought back.

That means more time outside, more screen-free hours (hopefully), and a lot more UV exposure than most of us realize. A few quick reminders to keep your eyes happy this season:

- Wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection, not just dark lenses.
- Hats with brims add another layer of defense, especially for kids.
- Hydrate! Dehydration shows up in your eyes faster than you'd think.
- Take breaks from the water glare at the lake and pool.
