Provo may clear the way for brewpubs to move into the city’s downtown, shopping areas Economic development and conservative culture will come to a head Tuesday, when Provo decides whether restaurants — in certain areas of the city — should be allowed to brew their own beer.

I'm ordering a new NUMB hat. These are handmade in Vermont, wool, with a fleece lining. Extremely warm - that you can wear less on the rest of you. This is what I'm ordering - the photos are approximate, they look much better in person. The hat photo is my old one which I washed in hot water and it shrunk (washed it before and it did not - so only cold or warm and never the drier). Moths got it a bit too (old place had a problem with them). Other photo is a knitting mock-up. These are expensive, but I feel worth it. There is a price break at a certain point. But otherwise it's about 80 bucks. If you want one - text me.

Anybody make their brews into vinegar. I accidentally made a growler into vinegar - just let it sit for a long time (forgot I put it in with my empties). Turned out great (It was a porter).

So now I'm in a townhouse and the only fermenting location that's warm is carpeted. I could use Rubbermaid containers and put the fermenters in that. Any other solutions. it's going to be a large closet. I have a great place for cold fermenting where I don't have to worry about spillage or overflow.

NEW INFO Pressing Was delayed (power outage) till October 19 at 5 PM - so can still take more apples. Need another 5 bushels. They don't have extra apples at the orchard this year. Can either use help to gather them tomorrow, or more of your apples to add to the mix. Have about 12 different varieties already! A good mix of very sweet aromatic Golden Delicious (25 percent) and an unknown tart red apple (20 percent). Some hard-to-eat craps with plenty of tanic bite to add interest too (5 percent or so). Then the rest a mix of lots of others with loads of character. Being so late and exposed to cold the extraction should be high, as will be the sugar content.

Oh and no leaves. That is why they delayed us - but it actually will work out well. I wanted a later press anyway.

We (well me and some others) are doing a home-brew cider pressing. If you want to help, have apples, or otherwise participate, let me know. We need all apples before 4PM Friday the 18th at my place. You can also get to Paradise Orchard at 4:30PM. It's a ways from Logan. If you are late you are out-of-luck. The more the merrier!
