Over the last few years I’ve spent a lot of time struggling with self imposed limitations, made excuses, and more often than I’d like to admit, let myself skirt out of putting real effort into the projects and issues that matter most to me.

That said, it hasn’t been a dead stop and it’s aided in protecting my peace, allowing me to plug away quietly and intentionally when I can on something much bigger.

The new song “Flip a Switch” drops today and it’s about cutting ties with the people and parts of myself that no longer serve me.

The track is the last single off my upcoming project, Boundaries, due 10/20, and serves as the inspiration for its title.

Commit to yourself. Commit to your spirit. Honestly, forget the need to feel seen in general, or perceived how you want to be. What’s important is that you’re speaking your truth. I found this book tucked away in the basement of my childhood home when my mom was moving out in 2016(?). She had no idea whose it was (even though it was her handwriting in the back), and neither did my brothers. My dad had recently passed, but it was very unlikely to be his, either.

The book’s rightful owner was a mystery.

I was a year or two into starting yoga, where Buddhist symbolism is v prevalent, and had always had people I admired talk highly of it. But the subject was *never* pushed on me.

So I adopted it.

Reluctant to do so after extremely bad childhood/teenage experiences with organized religion, religious people, etc. I began to do a little internet research on Buddhism.

I wasn’t trying to stumble into a cult.

Fortunately, it was quite the opposite. I found a podcast that I enjoyed, some people who I identified with, and even read some more bo theBuddhism were very much “take what resonates and leave the rest”, and included no serious considerations or crazy-talk about the Buddha performing miracles. I could f**k with that. 

In 2021 I read Siddhartha again. I wondered if there was a way I could bring this story to a modern audience.

So I gave it a shot, and The Ferryman is what came out.

While all of my projects (minus Girls) include elements of spirituality - exploration of the self as our own god in GOD COMPLEX, and the negative impacts of Christianity in Thoughts & Prayers - The Ferryman is the first to acknowledge the existence of something bigger, even if we can’t quite put our finger on it.

I’d like to thank for mixing/mastering, for narration, and and for production.

I guess you could say this EP is 9 years in the making 😂

I must have written like 4 different songs over this beat over the years and it never fit til I wrote “The River”.
