Operation Lunchbox packing Turning Point Church

10/01/2026

What if the only thing standing between a child and an empty stomach was someone deciding to care?

If you could help a child go home knowing there will be food…

If you could help them walk into school tomorrow focused on learning instead of wondering when they’ll eat again…

If you could remind them that they matter, they haven’t been forgotten, and someone cares about them…

Would you give $5?

Because $5 can help feed ONE child.

One child who needs to know:

Someone sees me.
Someone cares about me.
I matter.

For 12 years, Operation Lunchbox has been showing up for children across Georgia.

Now, through Project 159, we’re taking that mission statewide — working toward reaching children in need across all 159 Georgia counties.

❤️ HERE’S THE CHALLENGE:

🍎 FEED ONE — $5 feeds one child.
🍎 $25 = 5 kids
🍎 $50 = 10 kids
🍎 $100 = 20 kids

📲 TEXT LUNCHBOX TO 77977 TO GIVE

Then help us do something even bigger:

❤️ HEART THIS POST.

Even if you can’t give today, your share matters.

Your share could reach someone who feeds 10 kids.

It could reach a church that feeds 100.

It could reach a business that feeds 1,000.

That’s how we make this bigger than any one of us.

You don’t have to feed every child in Georgia.

Just help us feed ONE.

Then help us find the next person willing to feed ONE.

$5. One child. One act of kindness.

159 counties. One Georgia. No child forgotten.

❤️

From the Founder/CEO Dave Newman

The real reason I started Operation Lunchbox.

I’ve told people what Operation Lunchbox does for years.

But I don’t always tell people where the heart behind it came from.

I grew up poor in the Colonial Coach trailer park in Riverdale, Georgia.

There were times when food wasn’t something we could take for granted.

My dad drove a Golden Flake chip truck, and sometimes we ate the stale chips that came off his truck.

My mom struggled and made choices that eventually sent her to prison for 24 months. Some of those choices came from trying to provide a better life and put food on the table for us.

But if you knew my mom, you knew something else about her.

She had one of the biggest hearts.

We didn’t have much, but that didn’t stop her from trying to feed everybody.

There could be 10 kids packed into our trailer eating whatever we had.

Looking back, that’s one of the things that stays with me the most.

We were poor, but my mom was still trying to feed the neighborhood.

When she went to prison, people stepped in and helped us.

I’ve never forgotten what that felt like.

I’ve never forgotten what it’s like to be the kid whose family needs somebody to show up.

And I’ve never forgotten watching my mom give to other kids when we barely had enough ourselves.

That’s the heart behind Operation Lunchbox.

Years later, I found myself in a position where I could do something about childhood hunger.

So I did.

What started with feeding children in Henry and Butts counties grew into something I never could have imagined.

Over the past 12 years, Operation Lunchbox has provided millions of bags of food to children across Georgia.

But those numbers aren’t what drive me.

When I see a kid who needs food, I see us.

I see that trailer park in Riverdale.

I see those stale bags of chips from my dad’s truck.

I see 10 kids sitting around eating in our trailer.

I see my mom trying to make sure everybody had something.

And I remember the people who stepped in and helped us when we needed them.

I can’t change how I grew up.

But I can do something about the kid growing up that way today.

That’s why Operation Lunchbox exists.

That’s why I’m still here 12 years later.

And that’s why we’re dreaming even bigger with Project 159—with a vision to reach children and communities throughout all 159 Georgia counties.

My mom started feeding the neighborhood long before Operation Lunchbox ever existed.

We’re just feeding a much bigger neighborhood now.

❤️ $5 FEEDS ONE CHILD. WILL YOU SPONSOR A KID TODAY?

For just $5, you can provide a bag of groceries to a child facing food insecurity.

Operation Lunchbox may not have been as vocal lately, but we have never stopped feeding kids. Every week, we continue providing groceries to children who need them.

Now we’ve been asked to take on an additional 300 kids — and potentially as many as 500 more.

We want to say YES.

But we need your help.

🥫 $5 = 1 child
🥫 $25 = 5 children
🥫 $50 = 10 children
🥫 $100 = 20 children

The actual cost of each bag is approximately $4.80, so we simply say:

$5 feeds a kid.

Will you sponsor one child today? Two? Five? Ten?

If 500 people give just $5, together we can provide groceries for 500 kids.

Give $5. Feed a kid. Make a difference.

Please donate and share. Help Operation Lunchbox say YES to the next child who needs us. ❤️

🍎 THE $5 FRIDAY CHALLENGE 🍎

What if just $5 today could help make sure a child has food this weekend?

That’s the challenge.

Every Friday, we’re asking our friends, families, businesses, churches, and community partners to give just $5 to Operation Lunchbox.

🥫 $5 can help provide a bag of food for a child.
❤️ $25 can help feed 5 kids.
❤️ $50 can help feed 10 kids.
❤️ $100 can help feed 20 kids.
❤️ $500 can help feed 100 kids.

Since 2015, Operation Lunchbox has provided more than 3 MILLION bags of groceries to more than 1 MILLION children, serving communities across 36 counties.

And the need continues.

We currently help feed approximately 1,500 children every week in Henry, Butts, and Spalding counties, with even more schools and communities asking for help.

Our belief is simple:

Every kid should have food without worry.

Will you take the $5 Friday Challenge today?

📲 TEXT “LUNCHBOX” TO 77977 TO GIVE

Then SHARE this post and challenge 5 friends to give $5.

Five dollars may not feel like much.

But when a community comes together $5 at a time, we can feed thousands of kids.

❤️ $5. One child. One Friday. One community making a difference.

❤️ HUNGER CLOSE TO HOME — BIG BEAUTIFUL BUTTS

This is home. These are our kids.

For more than a decade, Operation Lunchbox has believed something very simple: a child should never have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Food insecurity isn’t always easy to see. The child sitting beside your child in class, playing on the same ballfield, or riding the same school bus may go home wondering whether there will be enough food for the weekend.

That’s why Butts County will always be special to Operation Lunchbox. This community is our home base, and taking care of children right here at home remains at the heart of our mission.

But we can’t do it alone.

Every donor, business, church, community partner and monthly supporter helps us put more groceries into the hands of children who need them.

❤️ Want to help us feed a child?
📲 Text LUNCHBOX to 77977

Together, let’s keep taking care of Big Beautiful Butts — one child, one family and one bag at a time.
