Comcopolis is Lockport's annual Comic and Fandom Con hosted by the White Oak Library District.

Comicopolis Veteran and fan favorite, Rafael Nieves will appear again on July 18, 2026.
He is a veteran comic book writer with over 30 years of experience, known for work with publishers including Marvel Comics and Caliber Comics, and series such as Tales from the Heart, Hellstorm, and The Phantom. He is also a graphic designer whose work draws from Art Deco, WPA, vintage advertising, typography, and movie poster design, featuring bold composition and strong visual contrast.
At Comicopolis, he will be showcasing and selling comics, print design work, and related publications.

Angelina Nguyen will be at Comicopolis on July 18, 2026 under Angenarts.
Angenarts focuses on creating comforting, whimsical artwork designed to resonate emotionally with viewers. Angelina’s work features cute animals, floral designs, food themes, fantasy elements, and select fan art inspired by nostalgia and joy. Her booth will include stickers, bookmarks, prints, button pins, keychains, and magnets—all centered around playful, aesthetic, and comforting illustration meant to bring a bit of whimsy into everyday life.

Are you interested in comic book culture and Illinois history? Join us at White Oak Library District on June 27th for a fascinating program exploring how deeply Illinois and comics are connected!

This engaging presentation explores the “symbiotic relationship” between Illinois and comics culture—looking at how politics, labor, law enforcement, education, architecture, and identity all show up in the stories we read. From Hollywood to Broadway, the Mafia to Congress, even a future King of England—Illinois has left its mark on storytelling in unexpected ways.

Dr. Stephen Harrick is a writer, historian, scholar, educator, and theatre artist. He has written about comics culture for Comics Beat, Straight Up Magazine, and The Arts STL.

MylCreates Shop joins Comicopolis on July 18, 2026! Marielle Riley creates acrylic charms, stickers, and wood pins featuring cute animals inspired by food and culture, along with fandom art and memes based on popular indie shows and games. Visitors can also find handmade stamp stickers and original 3D modeled and hand-painted figures. Her booth will feature a mix of grab-and-go items alongside a menu-style shopping setup. New to the artist vendor scene this year, Marielle has already gained experience collaborating with local businesses and is excited to bring her work to Comicopolis.

Frey Hill is an illustrator with a BFA from DePaul University whose work features expressive, vivid colors inspired by cartoons, graphic novels, and anime. Their table will feature stickers, keychains, prints, and acrylic pins. Frey’s experience across multiple art mediums, including sculpting, printmaking, and sewing, brings versatility and creativity to a wide range of projects. Currently available for both in-house and freelance work.
