Out with the old in with the new 🤩 We have beautiful new troxelhelmets in the lesson barn!
🪖
While you can always borrow one of our helmets, we encourage our riders to get their own helmet that fits their noggin just right. It should be a helmet designed specifically for riding, as other styles might not properly protect you in a riding accident. You can find them at stores such as Bedrock Tack, LK Tack, and Tractor Supply. It is recommended to purchase in-store, not online, so that you can try on different styles and sizes. Speak with your instructor if you have any questions 😀

Are you wearing the right socks for horseback riding? It’s not just comfort, it’s also performance and safety.

1. Prevents rubbing and blisters
Riding boots can be snug. Thick or bulky socks can bunch up and cause painful rubbing, while proper riding socks are thin and smooth so they don’t wrinkle inside your boot.

2. Better boot fit and feel
You want a close contact feel with your horse. Thin, well-fitted socks help your boots fit correctly so you can feel cues better—important for things like leg pressure and balance.

3. Keeps your legs comfortable all day
Good riding socks are usually made from moisture-wicking materials (not basic cotton), which keeps sweat down. Wet socks = cold feet in winter and blisters in summer.

4. Prevents slipping inside the boot
Some riding socks have slight compression or stay-up designs so they don’t slide down while you’re riding—super helpful when you’re posting or doing something active like barrel racing.

5. Temperature control
Lightweight socks for summer (breathable)
Wool or thermal blends for winter (warm but still thin)

6. Protects your skin
Tall socks act as a barrier between your leg and the boot, preventing chafing—especially important if you’re riding for longer sessions.

Bottom line:
The wrong socks can make your ride uncomfortable fast. The right ones help your boots fit better, keep you comfortable, and let you ride more effectively.
