Politicians and pollinators and teens, oh my! Check out what's happening at the library this week:

County Legislator Jeremiah Thompson Mobile Office Hours
Wednesday, June 24 • 6-8 p.m.
Community members are invited to stop by the lobby to discuss local issues, ask questions, and share ideas about how to strengthen our community. All are welcome!

Flower Dissection and Pollinator Play
Thursday, June 25 • 1:30 p.m.
Children dissect real flowers, examine them under magnifying glasses and microscopes, and even play a game to learn how bugs and flowers help each other grow. For children in grades K-5.

Teen Advisory Board
Friday, June 26 • 4 p.m.
Help advise the library on events, services, clubs, and books for middle and high schoolers while earning volunteer credit!

It's never too early to learn about being responsible with your money! Check out these two fun learning opportunities for children grades 3 - 5 with SFCU.

💰 SFCU Story Time
Thursday, July 9 • 10 A.M.
Join us for a special story time presented by Sydney Federal Credit Union, where children will discover the value of saving money. The session wraps up with an informal Q&A, exploring how saving can be a kid's superpower—helping them reach their goals and buy the things they really want.

💰 SFCU Monster Budget Challenge
Thursday, July 9 • 10:30 A.M.
Join Sydney Federal Credit Union and take part in a hands-on budgeting challenge where they are given a set amount of money to "build" their own monster. Using their budget, they must purchase all the necessary monster parts, including a body, legs, arms, eyes, and antennas. As they make choices, children will learn how spending more in one area may require compromises in another. This fun activity introduces basic budgeting concepts and demonstrates the importance of planning and prioritizing expenses.

Are you looking for a STEM camp for students entering grades 6-12 who enjoy tech? Take a look at the Geek Squad Academy, a two-day event on Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Soule Road Complex (8340 Soule Road) in Liverpool.

Join us for a free hands-on tech adventure where students will explore areas like coding, game design, photography, 3D design, digital music, and much more, using the latest gear and taught by Best Buy pros.

Registration is required and closes on Tuesday, July 7. To register and see the details, go to the event at LPL.ORG/EVENTS.

The Geek Squad Academy is co-sponsored by the Liverpool Public Library, the Liverpool Central School District and Best Buy.

Join us for a prehistoric adventure on Saturday, June 27 for our Children's Summer Reading Kick-off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in our Dinosaur Garden.

“Unearth a Story” at our kick-off party!
• Snap a picture at our Dino Photo Shoot
• Create your own dinosaur-themed crafts
• Explore exciting STEM activities that bring science and discovery to life.
• Test your knowledge with our Trivia Wheel
• Challenge friends and family with dinosaur games
• Embark on a scavenger hunt through the library.
• Also, at 12:30 p.m., Doug Rougeux, The Bubble Man, will “unearth the science, fun, facts and fiction of stories with bubbles the size of dinosaurs!”

Grow your garden and your mind this week at the library!

☀️ Gardening for Small Spaces
Monday, June 15 • 7 p.m.
Tim and Lisa Ballantyne of Ballantyne Gardens present practical solutions for growing food in small spaces, including vertical gardens and other options. This program is presented in conjunction with the Liverpool Public Library Seed Library.

☀️ Pop-Up Civics
Tuesday, June 16 • 1 - 3 p.m.
In the lobby, library staff and volunteers welcome community members with games, books, materials and discussions, and information. At this event, we will provide engagement and the opportunity to consider and discuss the topic, Foundations of America.

☀️ ADHD and Me, A Support Group for Kids with ADHD
Saturdays, June 20 • 1 p.m.
This monthly gathering is designed to help children with ADHD and their families thrive. Register at LPL.ORG/EVENTS

Congratulations to team 2E&C, winners of LPL's "Let's Get Trivial" season finale at Home Team Pub! "Let's Get Trivial" is a monthly trivia competition held by the masters of information and fun, the LPL staff.
