Wild Roots Collective
Wild Roots Collective is a Plant Nursery, Apothecary & Creative Studio. We believe growth is an art form.
We provide the inspiration to cultivate your inner and outer landscapes. Rooted in nature, fueled by community, and designed for the creative soul.
There’s a strange expectation out there that to be a "successful" business owner, you have to constantly look overwhelmed, rushed, and beyond busy. Somewhere along the line, stress became a badge of honor.
Personally? I love the down times. Some of the best creative insight happens when you finally let the pressure go, surrender to the moment, and just create for the pure joy of it.
I used some of that quiet time to work on this angel statue…. bringing together deep blues, textured gold, and fresh pinks. It’s a reminder that beauty takes time, and so does building something meaningful.
We are incredibly honored to host this stunning Hawaiian Umbrella Bonsai, now available for consignment at the shop!
There is an incredible sense of patience and history in a plant like this. It has been carefully tended for over two decades, developing a gorgeous, thick braided trunk and an intricate exposed root system that looks like a miniature ancient forest.
It comes housed in a beautiful, heavy glazed blue ceramic bonsai pot, complete with a tiny, whimsical roadside scene nestled into the river stones at its base. Because of its impressive size and age, this is a true statement piece for any plant lover’s collection.
Details:
Age: 20+ years old
Species: Hawaiian Umbrella (Schefflera arboricola)
Includes: Premium glazed ceramic bonsai pot & miniature landscape decor

Calling all local Florida farmers, growers, and green-thumbs!
Planning for our annual Pumpkin Palooza is officially underway! We love supporting local, but we’ve noticed a trend: almost every Florida business bulk orders their pumpkins from northern states.
We totally get why. Growing pumpkins in the Florida heat and humidity is a massive challenge (pests and mildew are no joke!). But, we want to try something different. We want to keep it local as best as possible.
Our Challenge to You: 🎃
We are looking for brave local farmers willing to take on the Florida elements and help stock our Pumpkin Palooza! Whether you specialize in traditional jack-o'-lanterns, unique heirloom varieties, or those perfect little pie pumpkins, we want to partner with you. Farmers Co-op even has Jack-o’-lantern seeds in stock!
If you are a local grower who is up for the challenge…. or if you know a farm that might be interested…. Please drop a comment below or send us a direct message. Let’s bring some true, Florida grown magic to this year's Palooza!
After yesterday’s video, we got to thinking about all the other great products we have lined up specifically for the men in our lives. If you are still hunting for a thoughtful, local Father's Day gift, look no further!
Come wander the shop, check out the plants, and grab something special. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
You might not find me remembering names at a party, but I can navigate you straight to a hidden patch of wild plants every single time!
Today's find: Ground Cherries.
These unique plants are part of the nightshade family and wrap their fruit in protective, balloon like pods. They actually have a rich history here…. Native Americans used to grind the roots into a paste for treating wounds and used root decoctions for stomach aches.
If you ever forage them, remember the Golden Rule: Never eat them green! The unripe fruits contain solanine and will cause some nasty stomach issues. Wait until the husk turns tan and papery and they drop naturally to the ground.
I’m checking back on this little cluster of 5 plants in a week to see if we have any ripe ones. If you've never tasted a ripe one, it's like a sweet cherry tomato married a pineapple.

There is so much talent tucked away right here in Live Oak, and we love highlighting the folks who celebrate the beauty of the natural world!
If you haven’t crossed paths with Myco-Emporium yet, you are missing out on something truly special. She curates the most incredible natural history specimens, handcrafted art, and educational displays.
We are absolutely fascinated by their:
🦋 Preserved Specimens: Ethically sourced butterflies, moths, and invertebrates displayed in stunning double glass floating frames (just look at those details!).
🌱 Living Botanical Starters: Unique plant cultures ready to join your collection.
🍄 Bio-Inspired Art: Handcrafted curiosities that celebrate the incredible world of flora, fauna, and fungi.
It’s always a joy to connect with fellow plant people and agrarians who appreciate the intricate details of our local ecosystems. Give her page a follow at Myco-Emporium and show some love to a wonderful local maker!

Check out this shot I took! Those bright yellow bugs clustered on the leaf are oleander aphids… sap-sucking pests that love to drain plants. But look who showed up right on time for the buffet!
This ladybug is about to do some serious work. A single adult can eat dozens of aphids a day. It’s a great reminder that when we let nature take its course, the good bugs usually show up to handle the bad ones. No pesticides needed here!

Want to support local pollinators but tired of the same old recommendations? It’s time to look past the milkweed and meet four of our favorite "hidden gem" powerhouses.
While they look stunning together at the nursery, these four thrive in different spots across your yard, making it easy to feed wildlife from your sunniest corners to your deepest shade:
1️⃣ Native Anise (Illicium)
The Vibe: A lush, evergreen privacy screen with rich, licorice-scented foliage.
The Spot: Loves damp, dappled shade.
Pollinator Plus: Its striking starburst blooms are a vital food source for specialized early-season pollinators. (Bonus: We have Red, White, and Yellow in stock right now!)
2️⃣ Garberia (Garberia heterophylla)
The Vibe: A rare, state listed threatened beauty that grows naturally right here in Florida and nowhere else on Earth.
The Spot: Needs full, baking sun and high, dry, sandy soil.
Pollinator Plus: In late summer, it erupts in fuzzy pink/lavender flower heads that native bees absolutely swarm.
3️⃣ Chaste Tree (Vitex)
The Vibe: A tough as nails, drought tolerant small feature tree that handles intense summer heat like a champ.
The Spot: Full sun.
Pollinator Plus: Erupts in massive spikes of lavender/blue flowers that honeybees and bumbles will literally make hum with life.
4️⃣ Coral Bean (Erythrina herbacea)
The Vibe: A dramatic, architectural native with glossy, arrowhead shaped leaves and wicked, protective thorns.
The Spot: Highly adaptable…. loves full sun to partial shade and thrives in dry, sandy soils.
Pollinator Plus: In spring, it shoots up spectacular, fiery red tubular spikes that are an absolute magnet for migrating hummingbirds and large butterflies.
Whether you have a dry, sunny sandbox or a damp, shaded fence line, you don't have to sacrifice beautiful landscape structure to take care of our local ecosystem.
Swing by the nursery this week to see all four in person and find the perfect fit for your yard!
