We love to brag on our Surgical Tech students because we know how awesome they are! But, don’t just listen to us.. take a look at what their preceptors have to say too. These students have been ROCKING clinicals since their first day.
They are exhausted but they are almost done! Find your Surg Tech, tag them in their preceptor evaluation and leave them some words of encouragement as well. Words of encouragement help us keep going.

RIVEROAK Technical College’s Surgical Technology program prepares students for a fast-paced career assisting surgeons and operating room teams. This program is Pell Grant eligible for those who qualify. Students receive hands-on clinical training and learn sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and patient safety.

OH HAPPY CLINICAL DAYS!! 🎉
Monday, our Surgical Tech students began their clinical rotations. Their anxiety was up, but the excitement of this brand new beginning outweighed all other emotions. We are only three days into rotations and this group has received outstanding evaluations from their preceptors so far. It’s hard to believe that they’re all off on their own now and that before we know it graduation will be here.
Our next cohort will begin July 6th and our application deadline is in May. To all high school seniors, if you’re interested in applying for the program, you are still eligible to apply prior to your graduation. You can turn in your high school diploma to our admissions office as soon as you receive it. Get those applications in quick as the deadline will be here before you know it.

Today, our students showed off their skills and put on a show for school board officials, RIVEROAK admin, family, and friends. Our 2nd annual program showcase/family friends night was a hit! We are very proud of the display we witnessed from this group and know without a doubt they will succeed in their clinical rotations. We look forward to witnessing their continued growth and the futures they have ahead of them.

The field of Surgical Technology is fast paced, an environment where one must critically think, is challenging yet rewarding. If you are one that wants to be apart of the medical field but prefers to be behind the scenes of it all, then being in the operating room is for you. We stay busy during our Friday lab days!
Our surgical tech students are working hard and honing in on crucial skillsets. They are eager to put these skills to the test soon. This group is only a month away from jumping into clinical rotations. Our next cohort will begin in July.
Time flies when you’re having fun!

Last week our students were busy learning Orthopedic surgery. They practiced wrapping extremities prior to using the tourniquet, splinting for fractures, and hand mixed bone cement that is used for total joint replacement procedures. To end our Orthopedic segment, everyone passed their chapter test today! 🦴🩻🎉
