LONG Building Technologies is a systems integrator that engineers, secures, services, and automates “In the fall of 1965, I decided to strike out on my own.

I had zero money…I had no assets, only an idea and courage.” – Wills Long

Since 1965, LONG Building Technologies has been in the business of building performance; making them automated, efficient, green, and safe. We accomplish this through collaboration and partnership with our customers, industry partners, and team members across our network. We believe in doing things the right way, with integ

Increasingly strict air quality standards are bringing about changes in modern combustion technology designs. Our partners at Weishaupt are helping customers meet rigid emissions requirements reliably and efficiently through their ULN burner series. In this short video, they detail some of the key benefits of using one of their ULN burners, including Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR) requirements, safety features, and how they compare to their other burner models.

Our partners at Munters have an innovative, highly efficient CDU (Coolant Distribution Unit) available that’s an ideal solution for data centers where liquid cooling is deployed at scale.

This LCX (Liquid to Liquid) CDU is the bridge between Facility Fluid (FF) and Technology Fluid (TF), using FF to condition a separate and isolated TF to desired temperatures, flow rates, and pressure for optimal liquid cooling. Of note, the LCX is modular and can easily stack or be installed side-by-side. This helps reduce space and makes it a viable solution for space-constrained installations.

For an efficient, easily serviceable, and adaptable CDU, check out Munters’ LCX, or contact our Data Center Solutions team for more information.

Direct-to-chip (DTC) cooling only works at scale because of coolant distribution units (CDUs). CDUs utilize a closed-loop system for heat removal in data centers with limited space and high heat generation. They are the key to successful DTC cooling and contribute to greater thermal management, energy efficiency, PUE standards, and scalability.

Here’s a quick video showcasing their functions.

In the final of our series of maintenance tasking for HVAC equipment, General Foreman Chris Crosset details some simple steps facility managers can perform on their air handling units. With the hot summer months approaching, you want to make sure your AHU is up to speed and can keep you cool through the season. If you’re unsure about any of these tasks or think your AHU needs more in-depth maintenance, reach out to your local LONG HVAC service team!

Wall cladding systems have a variety of types to choose from depending on the needs of your commercial building. Whether your goal is aesthetic appearance, water and moisture control, or exterior durability, understanding the difference between the wall cladding panels available should be step one. Here are some cladding material types, along with their pros and cons.

1. ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) Panels: Lightweight, cost-effective, and highly customizable. Fire performance depends on core type and impact resistance can vary.

2. MCM (Metal Composite Material) Panels: High weather durability and improved fire resistance over ACM. More expensive than ACM.

3. HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) Panels: Many color/design options available, UV stable, and good impact resistance. Not structural and have a high cost.

4. Fiber Cement Panels: Fire-resistant, moisture-resistant, and low maintenance. Can be heavier than metal panels (depending on material) and have limited flexibility.

5. Wood Panels: Warm aesthetics, renewable material, good sound absorption. Requires more maintenance and has more fire and moisture concerns.

The ways in which we used to size air-to-air packaged heat pumps have changed. Now, there are a variety of new factors that must be considered to ensure you have the correct size to meet operations and energy efficiency goals. Below is a short clip from one of our Coffee Breaks where we discuss new considerations for RTU sizing versus how they were previously done. The process is much more iterative now, so it’s important you consult with your LONG sales engineer to really think through heat pump applications so you’re aware of the cost differences or sustainability impacts.

Redundant HVAC systems are an effective way to prevent downtime, maintain comfort and safety, and support maintenance, but not all facilities need them. For offices, schools, retail, or hospitality, downtime can be inconvenient, but not manageable. Facilities that cannot afford failures or offline systems during maintenance are where redundancy matters most. This is also why it’s often required by mission-critical facilities. Here are some of the reasons these facilities employ HVAC redundancy:

1. Data Centers – 100% cooling uptime needed to prevent server overheating, immediate financial loss, and SLA violations.

2. Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities – Maintain patient comfort, safety, and infection control.

3. Cleanrooms & Laboratories – Ensure precise environment conditions.

4. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing – Maintain product safety and comply with regulatory standards.

If you’re unsure if your facility should utilize redundant strategies, reach out to us today!
