Lone Tree Light Show
A synchronized holiday light extravaganza... that gets bigger every year!
Great News!!! Broncos Lights kicks off tonight at 5pm.
Where we need your help: The parody songs I have are from 10 years ago and I need something that mentions current players. So, if you know someone who has recorded or wants to record a song that we can use for our Broncos Lights, feel free to DM through the show page.
The last time we did our Broncos Lights, they won the Super Bowl. Should we resurrect them?

Shoutout to my brother and nephew for helping me get the mega tree set up. 95% ready for Christmas… but the Thanksgiving show runs through tomorrow night. Christmas will start Friday. Unless, I have something planned for Black Friday.

Ok light fans… the original Thanksgiving Lights show returns tonight! I got as much of it set up today as I could.
What in the world are Thanksgiving Lights? I found songs about food, sequenced lights to those songs and bam… Thanksgiving Lights - a Lone Tree Light original concept!

This hobby really can be overwhelming. As we setup for our 15th season, some of the connectors and wires have gone bad. Lucky for me, I have a tenured electrical engineer at my disposal!

Here’s our show this year! Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Lone Tree Light Show 2022 For a variety of reasons, our show is much smaller this year!
To Our Fans:
2022 has been a heck of year both personally and professionally.
Setting up the displays for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day takes hours. There’s the meticulous part of setting things up and plugging them into the correct place. There are the hours of sequencing for each minute of song that you hear. There’s the troubleshooting when things don’t work. The hobby has evolved too. It’s no longer about being DIY and being creative with sequences or building props from widely available items. It’s turned into a contest of who can get onto a TV show or can go viral by using the latest pop song in their display. It’s turned into buying custom props. It’s turned into everyone using the same sequences generated by a handful of people. What the hobby has gained in the way of making things easier, it’s also lost a lot of individual creativity. Exceptions exist and we are friends with most of them!
We’ve strived to make the display creative and unique from all the other houses on your Christmas light tour for 11 seasons. Song selection, sequencing, the voiceovers, the props… everything that makes it to the yard and into the show has always been produced with love for your enjoyment.
My heart just isn’t into it this year. Other projects and priorities have taken precedent. While we won’t have our full-blown animated display this year, we will have a very scaled back Halloween and Christmas display. AND we will still give out candy on Halloween. I need a break to focus on some other things outside of the light display.
And while we are taking this year off from the animated display, I’ve been accumulating MORE lights and have big ideas on how to use them. We will be back with a bigger show next year!
Love and lights,
Steve

A Brief History of LTLS
Our story actually begins in 1988 on a summer trip to Disneyland. At night, the park would go dark and The Main Street Electrical Parade would take over. I thought it was so awesome that the music and lights danced together and at the ripe age of 12, a light nerd was born. Fast forward to January 2011. Someone sent me a video of Richard Holdman’s house in Utah. To this day, it is one of the best-sequenced shows I’ve ever seen. Knowing that I didn’t have the engineering or electronics background to take on such a cool project, I did a little research and came across a website called Do-It-Yourself Light Animation. You buy the kits and build them yourself. I forwarded it to my dad, the electrical engineer. I said, “We have 10 months to build a Christmas show.” And by October (2 months ahead of schedule) we were setting up our first Halloween shows. The hobby has evolved greatly since our humble beginnings and we have met some great people along the way.
Every Halloween we love the trick-or-treaters comments of “We always come by your house at Christmas too.” We’ve also been blessed by letters from kids and adults alike thanking us for our display. This gratitude helps to get through some of the aggravating surprises that can occur during setup. So, thank you, for your thank yous.
If you’re interested in getting into the hobby or want to learn more, etc, just leave us a message in the inbox.
