Announcing auditions for Duncan Macmillan’s Lungs at The Weekend Theater! Directed by Hunter Whitfield.

The world is getting hotter, there's unrest overseas, and one couple is thinking about having a child. Lungs is a smart, funny drama that follows them through the surprising lifecycle of a relationship as they grapple with family, hope, and the particular pain you can only cause the people you love.

Lungs is a two-person show and a test of an actor. There's no set, no props, and no costumes, just two people in an empty space. We're looking for actors who are disciplined, collaborative, and excited by table work. The rehearsal process will lean heavily on script analysis.

Lungs contains material and themes that are adult in nature. The material includes frank discussions of grief and loss, as well as portrayals of intimacy and sexual content.

Find character breakdowns, rehearsal information, and our online audition form at weekendtheater.org/auditions!

“One of the advantages of seeing a production like this at The Weekend Theater is the intimacy of the space. Audience members are close enough to catch every raised eyebrow, frustrated sigh, and mischievous grin, and this production feels like a party. Darby Lytle and company understand that these plays were written to entertain, and they never lose sight of that fact. By the end, I wasn't just enjoying The Taming of the Shrew, I was actively wondering why I hadn't loved it all along.” Such kind words merit great thanks, Theresa Harvey Bertram. We’re so proud of this production and glad you love it just as much!
