Given the news today of the Kajita & McDonald Nobel Prize for research on the "neutrino flip," we thought we'd post our recent project related to neutrinos. Neutrinos, or "dark matter" research takes place deep in the earth. The USA's leading dark matter research is underway a mile underground in a former South Dakota gold mine. C&G Partners, LLC, and Formations, Inc. created exhibits for a new Visitors Center near the former mine in Lead, SD. A centerpiece object in the exhibit is an actual decommissioned mineshaft elevator car, or "cage." RBH was tasked with turning the elevator cage into an engaging audio/video experience.
So what does it sound like to ascend to the surface in a elevator cage from 4250 feet down in the earth, surrounded by particle physicists and seasoned mine workers? Have a listen to this 15-minute trip.
We just learned from Fred Paris of Formations, Inc. that the Introductory Video that we created for the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site won an award from the National Association for Interpretation. Formations also won an award for their exhibit.
