Holy Ball with the MOST handsome kid!

We had sooooooo much fun!

One week… one week ago I woke up in bed at 3:30 am to a strange man in my bedroom looking at me.

Last Friday night I put my kids to bed. I fell asleep in Calvin’s bed that night and I believe that was the universe putting me exactly where I needed to be to protect my children.

A man scaled the front of my townhouse to my balcony and entered my house through my sliding balcony door. I lock my doors but I can admit that I don’t always remember to lock that one. I never considered someone would come in that way.

We got lucky. I don’t know what his intent was but he was too ill or too high to complete any task. He made himself at home in my living room for while before coming up to the bedroom level of my home. His presence in the bedroom was what woke me up. A figure that I didn’t recognize standing over me paralyzes me now still a week later.

I sleep with my phone under my pillow because I use it for my alarm every morning. I was able to call 911 instantly and put them on speaker phone and then I started screaming. Screaming louder and harder than I ever have in my life.

The man was too out of it to figure out how to leave. He didn’t fight back. He let me turn him around and I pushed him down two flights of stairs and out the front door. At one point I turned around and saw my babies huddle together at the top of the stairs crying. That image puts a fire in my belly every time I think of it. I can’t believe how close we got to being hurt.

A lot of cops came fast and they grabbed the man not far from my unit. He had been arrested on 10/30 and 11/9 already and this was 11/16. Thank you for being so fast and efficient!

I called at on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon DJ was at my house putting together a quote and on Tuesday a full security system was installed. The peace of mind the new system gave me allowed me to return to my home this week. Thank you for being absolutely incredible!!

Please let my situation be a reminder for you tonight. Turn on your security system, lock your doors, and always be mindful of the best ways to protect you and your family.

This little girl turned 8 this week!

She is smart, strong, and fierce.

Being her mom is an absolute joy. I love that I get to be a witness to her life.
