Happy Juneteenth from The Design Group.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas. It is a day to reflect on our nation's history, honor the resilience and contributions of Black Americans, and recognize the progress made in pursuit of a more equitable future.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and joyful Juneteenth in celebration of freedom.

The Design Group was honored to be called upon to provide media relations for former Vice President ’ visit to Little Rock Central High School. On Saturday, she was escorted to Central for the first time by our friend, Mayor . Harris met LRSD Superintendent Jermall Wright and Central Principal Nancy Rousseau. VP Harris also met and spent time with Elizabeth Eckford, who made history in 1957 when she and eight other students integrated Central. What a moment.

Did you catch Arkansan and Grammy-award winner Bobby Rush at the Oscars last night?

In addition to his harmonica performance on “Juke” on the Sinners soundtrack, Rush joined Miles Carlton, Rafael Saadiq, Brittany Howard, and Shaboozey among other musicians, dancers and cast for spectacular performance of “I Lied to You.”

We so often remember Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in moments of struggle: at the podium, in the march, under enormous pressure. But here, we see something else just as powerful.

Joy.

It's a reminder that hope can live alongside struggle, and that joy does not erase the work. It sustains it. That smile reminds us that hope isn’t soft or passive. It’s resilient. It laughs. It rests when it can, and then it gets back to work. Dr. King’s leadership was rooted in an unshakable belief that a more just America was not only necessary, but possible. That belief required discipline, courage, and imagination.

As we reflect today, we’re reminded that the work of justice isn’t only fueled by anger at what’s wrong, but by love for what could be.

May we hold onto that kind of hope. The kind that keeps us human, keeps us grounded, and keeps us moving forward together.
