Do you ever mix up a tornado watch and a tornado warning? Here’s an easy way to remember:

The longer the word, the more urgent the action.

🌪️ Tornado Watch: Conditions are possible—stay alert and be prepared.
🌪️ Tornado Warning: A tornado has been spotted—take cover immediately.

Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe, Arkansas!

Severe thunderstorms may impact parts of Arkansas this weekend. Now is the time to make sure you’re prepared and your insurance coverage is up to date.

The Arkansas Insurance Department encourages you to take a few simple steps to protect your home, vehicle, and peace of mind:

• Review your homeowner's policy to confirm it covers wind damage. If not, talk to your agent about windstorm coverage.
• Consider comprehensive auto insurance—it helps cover damage from flood, hail, fire, and wind.
• Save your insurance agent and company contact information in your phone. Keep digital copies of your declaration page and auto ID card for easy access.
• Think about flood insurance—most standard home policies do not cover flood damage.
• Secure your property by removing dead tree limbs and tying down outdoor furniture.
• Create a home inventory with photos or videos to make the claims process easier if damage occurs.

Taking these steps now can make all the difference later. Stay safe and be prepared!

The Arkansas Insurance Department’s Funeral Services Division was proud to host a Spring Symposium on April 8th, bringing together licensed funeral professionals from across the state to earn continuing education hours and engage in meaningful discussions.

We were also honored to welcome students from Arkansas State University Mountain Home and the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana who are pursuing degrees in funeral services.

The three-hour event featured a presentation from a guest lecturer, followed by a panel discussion with young licensed funeral professionals representing all four corners of Arkansas. Events like this help strengthen our professional community through education, collaboration, and shared experiences.
