Did you know? đź’śđź§
Individuals with Down syndrome have a significantly higher lifetime risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease than the general population. Research estimates that more than 50%–90% of individuals with Down syndrome will develop Alzheimer’s as they age, often with symptoms appearing much earlier — typically between the ages of 55 and 58.
During Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month this June, we want to help spread awareness about the importance of early intervention, education, support services, and compassionate care for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
By learning the signs, advocating for resources, and supporting one another, we can help ensure individuals with Down syndrome receive the understanding and care they deserve throughout every stage of life. đź’ś
