It was a wonderful day at William B. Thrasher Boys’ Club as over 200 excited children spent a morning listening to inspiring speakers, receiving a new backpack, and learning new moves for football. This event was FREE to all children thanks to Damien Land and his Board of Directors.

Damien continues to serve South End Little Rock through these activities while also being a board member of Compassion Works for All.

Congratulations, Damien Land, on another successful event!

Lona McCastlain, Member of the Arkansas Post-Prison Transfer Board (Parole Board) gave an excellent presentation at Larry B. Norris Unit (Tucker Max) to inmates last week. She clearly explained the process of parole hearings. A parole applicant’s hearing — their opportunity to explain their growth and preparation — is usually heard by one representative of the Parole Board. The member then takes the recommendation to the full Parole Board; 5 affirmative votes of the Board are required for the release of any inmate.

COMPASSION WORKS FOR ALL is grateful to the honest, straightforward parole information Ms. McCastlain shared with the men at Tucker Max. The men now have a clearer understanding of how the parole process works in Arkansas — that information is essential as they prepare for their hearings.
