It’s the first of June, and we are ready to, “Feed the Movement!”

This week, we are Wearing Pink, Spending Green, and Buying Black by intentional spending with Black-owned restaurants, cafes, bakeries, food trucks, and beverage brands.

Our collective goal is $8 million this month, and it starts with just $19.08. That’s one delicious meal, one specialty coffee, or one sweet treat. Let’s help “Build Our Economic Wealth,” one bite (or sip!) at a time.

Tag your favorite food or drink business below, and let’s celebrate together!🩷💚🖤

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Beta Pi Omega members recently embraced self-care practices in support of mental wellness.
Mental health is essential, and during the month of May, Initiatives 2 and 3 partnered to host a mental health and self-care event, The Yoga Experience, at Nooma Studio, a woman-owned fitness studio. The event provided members and guests with an opportunity to relax, recharge, and prioritize their overall well-being through mindfulness and movement. What are you doing to support your mental health?
Here are some benefits of practicing yoga:

Reduces stress: Breathing exercises and meditation calm the nervous system.
Improves focus and clarity: Encourages mindfulness and better concentration.
Supports mental health: Can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Boosts mood: Promotes the release of feel-good chemicals in the brain.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️, Beta Pi Omega Chapter held its final Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) program on May 9, 2026, at the Sue Cowan Williams Library. Parents and chapter committee members listened as the young leaders reflected on their experiences over the past nine months and made presentations on how their leadership skills had grown over that time. The leaders shared what they plan to do with those skills moving forward. Chairman Chevedia Hillard thanked parents for trusting us with their middle school children and presented the youth with a certificate of completion and gifts. Their requested meal—pizza and juice pouches—followed!

May is .
Sisters, so much is happening in our daily lives and the world. While we celebrate graduations, weddings, promotions, births, and lives, it is important to take our mental temperature to make sure we are ok. This is a gentle reminder to pause, check in, and pour back into you.
This year, we’re leaning into joy, not as something random, but something intentional. For us, joy is courage. It’s healing. It’s resistance. And it’s necessary.
Taking care of your mental and emotional well-being isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. So this month, let’s be intentional together:
💚 Choose one thing that restores you
💚 Set one boundary that protects your peace
💚 Show one act of compassion, to yourself or someone else
When we prioritize our wellness, we don’t just thrive, we uplift our families, our communities, and each other.
Let’s SOAR in sisterhood and choose joy today, and every day.🩷💚
