Second Lady Usha Vance invites students in grades K-8 to participate in her Summer Reading Challenge. From June 1 through September 4, students are encouraged to read 12 books and keep their minds active all summer long. Participants will be eligible for prizes and a chance to visit Washington D.C. The challenge aims to foster a lifelong appreciation for reading, build strong literacy skills, and help students head back to school confident and prepared. Harding Transcribe-a Thon - Transcribing Revolutionary-Era Documents for America 250 06/04/2026

The Arkansas State Library and Arkansas TV teamed up to celebrate America 250 by hosting Transcribe-a-Thons throughout the state. Transcribe-a-Thons connect volunteers to digital images of handwritten correspondence and documents of the Library of Congress and crowdsource the transcription of historical documents so that the stories of Americans and American history can be preserved and accessed by all. The events are coordinated through the Arkansas State Library's Center for the Book.
