Don’t waste your Monday.

I know that’s not something you hear often, but I want to coach you a little bit this morning.

A lot of people waste Monday before the day even really begins.

They waste it complaining. Complaining about work. Complaining about pressure. Complaining about people. Complaining about responsibilities they once prayed for.

Others waste it distracted. Scrolling. Drifting. Reacting. Giving their attention to everything except what actually matters.

And some waste it negative. Already irritated. Already defeated. Already expecting the worst before the week has even had a chance to unfold.

That mindset impacts more than people realize.

The way you start your week affects the way you lead, work, think, respond, and show up the rest of the week. Negativity drains energy. Complaining kills perspective. Distraction steals momentum.

Monday is too valuable to spend negative, distracted, and unfocused. So instead, be intentional with your mindset today.

Be grateful.
Be focused.
Be disciplined.
Be intentional.

Monday is not something to survive.
It is an opportunity to lead your life well.

Happy Mother’s Day Mom! I love you with my whole heart!

05/09/2026

Mother’s Day is beautiful for many people. But for others, it carries grief, disappointment, regret, loneliness, or silence.

Some people will miss their mom deeply this Mother’s Day. Some wish they had a different relationship with their mother. Some carry wounds from words, absence, addiction, or abandonment.

Some mothers are carrying the weight of feeling like they failed as a mom. Some women long to be moms and have not been able to. Some are grieving children they lost.

And some are simply exhausted, wondering if they are enough.

Sometimes, days like Mother’s Day have a way of surfacing what hurts. But this is one of the many reasons I love Jesus so much. Jesus always steps into broken places with grace.

Into grief with comfort.
Into regret with forgiveness.
Into exhaustion with strength.
Into loneliness with presence.
Into shame with mercy.

People will fail us because people are imperfect. But Jesus is steady. Faithful. Present. Kind.

If Mother’s Day feels heavy for you, do not isolate yourself in the pain. Look to Jesus. He sees what nobody else sees. He understands what others may never fully understand. And He is able to meet you right where you are.

Sometimes the most healing thing we can do is stop pretending we are okay and let Him hold the parts of our lives that still hurt.

“The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

I want you to take an unusual approach to today. Instead of focusing on having a good day, focus on helping the people around you have a good day.

Send the text.
Hold the door.
Say thank you.
Notice the person everyone overlooks.
Be patient with the cashier.
Compliment the effort.
Listen when someone talks.

We live in a world where people are quick to criticize, complain, overlook, and move on. Be different. Be the person who makes people feel stronger after being around you. Be the person who leaves rooms better than you found them.

Remember this: every person you pass today is fighting something you cannot see. Some are exhausted. Some are discouraged. Some are anxious. Some are carrying grief, pressure, loneliness, frustration, or silent battles nobody else knows about.

And most people are not looking for someone to fix their life. They are simply hoping someone notices them.

That is why small things matter more than we realize. A little encouragement. A little patience. A little kindness. A little attention.

And here is the amazing thing about life: when you spend your day lifting other people up, your own life usually gets lifted too.

So maybe the goal today is not just to have a good day. Maybe the goal is to become part of somebody else’s reason for having one.

Birthday celebration for Dad and an early Mother’s Day celebration for Mom. I love you both dearly and will forever be grateful that God chose me to be your son.

I’m in Memphis speaking this morning and excited about the day ahead. But last night, I caught myself smiling as we drove down I-40 near the Mississippi River and passed a line of 18 wheelers rolling through the night.

For a moment, I was taken back about 25 years to a summer spent here working the night shift at Goodyear, loading tires onto trailers with a Walkman on my head and sweat pouring down my face. Long nights. Heavy work. Repetitive work. The kind of work that leaves you exhausted when the sun comes up.

But looking back now, I realize that season gave me more than a paycheck.

It taught me how to work.
How to keep going when I was tired.
How to take pride in doing a job well.

There is something powerful about honest work. Something shaping about showing up night after night and doing what needs to be done.

At the time, I could not see that. It was just another night on a forklift. Another trailer to load. Another shift to finish before the sun came up.

But the older I get, the more I realize some of the most important seasons in our lives do not feel important while we are living them. They feel ordinary. Repetitive. Exhausting. Sometimes even frustrating.

Somebody reading this today may feel stuck in one of those seasons right now. Maybe the job is hard. Maybe the boss is difficult. Maybe life feels repetitive, exhausting, and far from where you hoped you would be.

Do not underestimate what this season may be building in you.

Some of the greatest growth in your life will not happen in the spotlight. It will happen in the quiet places where you learn discipline, consistency, endurance, and character.

The season you want to escape may actually be preparing you for the season you have been praying for.

Keep showing up.
Keep working hard.
Keep growing.

One day you may look back and smile too.

Just a fantastic morning with some of the most impactful people in the lives of so many across Arkansas. I was honored to speak, teach, and spend time with this incredible group. We got better today.

One of the most valuable things a leader can do is allow someone outside their normal lane to speak into their life. Different perspectives create clarity. Different voices reveal blind spots. Different angles challenge us to grow beyond what has become familiar.

It was an honor to be that voice this morning and watch this room embrace timeless leadership principles while intentionally applying them to their lives, leadership, and influence.

Growth happens when people stay teachable.

It was a great day.

Living in fear of a hypothetical future steals the joy of your current reality.

So many people lose today worrying about something that has not even happened. Their mind lives in tomorrow while their life is happening right now. Fear has a way of pulling you into imagined problems, imagined conversations, imagined outcomes, until you miss the people, moments, and opportunities sitting right in front of you.

Do not let an uncertain tomorrow rob you of a meaningful today.

That does not mean you ignore wisdom or preparation. It means you stop surrendering today to possibilities that may never come. Most of the things we fear never happen the way we imagined they would anyway.

There is still good in front of you right now. There are still people to love, moments to enjoy, opportunities to step into, and purpose to live out. Do not miss what is real because you are consumed by what is possible.

You do not have to have every answer about tomorrow to live fully today.

Take a breath. Trust God with what you cannot control. Handle what is in front of you. Stay present. Stay grateful.

Life is happening now.
