Another shot of the Stones cobra head, for its time a very tall and monolithic structure for a rock band tour set. This was A/B rigs where one steel build would leap frog another set of steel due its one week long build time. In those days OSHA oversight was pretty much a myth and I do remember hammers wrench and pagers occasionally falling to the deck beside fire line of union steel builders handling up the old school ledgers and standards that were no joke. No harness on anyone officially up to 115 ft in the air- i wore a rock climbers style with a piece of webbing and a biner i hoped maybe would catch me. A full size crane brought in construction rated I beams for the spans right beside us. A tour rigger I remember named Russell free walked those beams in order to fasten the bolts. Literally living life on the edge!

My day w the Godfather of Soul July 4,2002. A long festival weekend w audio duties capped off by a lifetime experience with James Brown. I was slinging audio monitors and microphones for the biggest soul act the world has ever known. Two bass players. Biggest band I’d worked w with in many years. Closest I’d ever been to this icon. He was working with me on audio cues. Unbelievable wardrobe. True story and a career highlight. Scroll to13:00 for the intro.

Still making memories out here …
September 15,1994 Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge cobra head comes to Mile High Stadium in Denver Colorado. As a local I helped rig the cobra head and climbed up into at 300’feet up, they did not require harness back then. The Stones fed us well with steak and seafood at catering, also on site massage therapy and barber if you had time to stop your day. Charlie Watts was very personable and attended the day time set up and drum head change on his kit where we goofed off and shot the bull a bit. Security was tight. A good paycheck
