As we are Celebrating our 60 YEARS!
A Memorable Conversation on Leadership, Purpose, and Impact
This morning's conference featured an engaging and inspiring conversation between Russell Blocker, owner of Universal Steel and current President of the Southern Association of Steel Fabricators (SASF), and former Heisman Trophy winner and football standout, Tim Tebow. Russell guided a thoughtful discussion that went far beyond the football field, covering topics such as leadership, parenting, personal values, and the lessons learned through both success and adversity. Attendees were treated to an authentic exchange filled with practical insights, meaningful stories, and valuable perspectives on leading with purpose and integrity.
A particularly impactful part of the conversation focused on Tim's charitable work through the Tim Tebow Foundation and its ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and support vulnerable individuals around the world. His passion for serving others and using his platform to make a difference resonated strongly with everyone in attendance. The discussion served as a powerful reminder that true leadership is measured not only by professional achievements, but also by the positive impact we have on the lives of others.
Thank you, Tim, for sharing your experiences, wisdom, and inspiring message. And congratulations to Russell Blocker for leading an outstanding conversation that was both memorable and meaningful. His leadership as SASF President continues to elevate the industry while creating opportunities for important conversations that inspire growth, service, and excellence. And his family was there to support him.

Sixty years of growth means continually investing in the future.
In 2016, Universal Steel made a significant investment in fabrication technology with the purchase of our first Lincoln Electric PythonX robotic plasma cutting system. The impact was immediate—improving precision, increasing efficiency, and helping us deliver the quality our customers expect on every project.
Today, as we celebrate 60 years of business, we're proud to announce the addition of a second PythonX machine to our operation.
This investment represents more than new equipment. It reflects our commitment to innovation, our confidence in the future, and our dedication to providing the highest level of service to our customers. By expanding our automated fabrication capabilities, we are better positioned to meet growing demand while maintaining the craftsmanship and quality that have defined Universal Steel for generations.
From one PythonX in 2016 to two in 2026, our mission remains the same: invest in our people, invest in our capabilities, and continue building structures that stand the test of time.
Built in 1966. Still Standing Strong.

The University of Georgia’s West End Zone Scoreboard at Sanford Stadium is one of the most recognizable features of the Bulldogs’ football home. As part of the $63 million West End Zone expansion completed in 2018, the original video board was replaced with a massive new display measuring approximately 100 feet wide by 52 feet tall—33% larger than its predecessor. The scoreboard serves as the centerpiece of the renovated West End Zone, towering above the new fan plaza and entrance while providing high-definition replays, game statistics, player introductions, and the iconic pregame traditions that energize Bulldog Nation. Designed to enhance the game-day experience for more than 90,000 fans, the structure combines modern technology with the tradition and atmosphere that make Sanford Stadium one of college football’s premier venues.

Visiting the NASCC The Steel Conference was an incredible experience, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and professionals who share a passion for advancing the steel construction world. A true highlight for Universal Steel was seeing Jaylen Alexander, our youngest welder, represent us on a panel—an impressive moment that showcased not only his skill, but the strength of our next generation. His confidence, knowledge, and willingness to share his journey reflected the future of our industry and the investment we continue to make in developing talent from the ground up.
And a few fun photos of the late night events.

Universal Steel Inc. was proud to host approximately 150 students from across Atlanta for an interactive, hands-on tour of our operations. Students had the unique opportunity to step into the world of steel fabrication by participating in activities like stud shooting demonstrations and experiencing virtual welding simulations, giving them a real feel for the skills used in our industry. In addition to seeing our processes up close, the tour highlighted the importance of safety, precision, and teamwork in everything we do. It was an exciting and engaging day that not only showcased our craft, but also inspired the next generation to explore careers in the skilled trades and construction industry. And finish the tour with Varsity Food Truck and gifts for the students.
We truly enjoyed all the students.

After 60 years in business, we're still standing strong - built on hard work, dedication, and doing things the right way. But we also know the importance of stepping back and enjoying the journey, taking time to have fun, celebrate our team, and appreciate how far we've come together.

FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF ATLANTA
The new headquarters for the Sixth Federal Reserve District will be located at 1000 Peachtree Street at the intersection with Tenth Street in Midtown Atlanta. Occupancy is scheduled for summer 2001.
The 746,000 square foot structure features a ten-story, mid-rise office tower, which fronts on Peachtree Street, and a three-story operations center located on the tower's west side. Its architectural expression, this building, which is clad with white Georgia marble, is comprised of simple, yet distinctive classical elements recalling the Bank's current and earlier buildings in Atlanta and referring to the clean classicism of Paul Cret's 1936 Federal Reserve Board building in Washington, D.C. The Peachtree Street facade is further subdivided into a wide background building with a slender tower element which marks the important intersection of Peachtree and Tenth Streets, signifies the Bank's principal entrance, and terminates the visual axis of Peachtree Street as it approaches the site at a subtle angle from the north.
At the corner of Peachtree Street and Tenth Street, a public plaza contains landscaped elements and a 1964 Elbert Weinberg cast bronze eagle perched atop a 48-foot marble column from the Bank's original 1918 structure. Four additional marble columns from the original building are included in the landscaping with stretches from the public plaza across the front of the building to Eleventh Street. Landscaped areas with benches will provide an urban, park-like space for the public to use.
