Today's stop for 25 Nebraska historic stops for America's 250th: The Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron.

A museum thatโ€™s unique in the world for being dedicated to the North American Fur Trade, itโ€™s built on the spot of the 1837 James Bordeaux trading post. The continentโ€™s earliest settlers and explorers were driven by the quest for furs, and this museum is the best spot youโ€™ll find to interpret that history. See more than 6,000 artifacts from early traders and Native Americans.

Nebraska Game and Parks has temporarily closed Fort Robinson State Park and Peterson Wildlife Management Area in Dawes and Sioux counties as the South Fork Fire burns in the area.

The wildfire, which started in the Soldier Creek Wilderness Area of the Nebraska National Forest, Pine Ridge Ranger District on June 9, is 0% contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The park and the WMA will remain closed until further notice to support firefighting operations and protect public safety.

People should avoid the wildfire area and not enter active fire zones or closed areas as emergency responders actively manage the fire. Game and Parks strongly discourages recreational viewing of burned areas.

Stay up-to-date with current wildfire conditions by visiting https://brnw.ch/21x3fvk and clicking South Fork Fire.
