Hi… it’s me, Roxy! 🤍🐾
Come meet me at Urban Hound Sunday afternoon! 🥹❤️
Sunny got her post earlier this week, so I’ve been patiently waiting for my turn to ask you something…
Will you come meet me?
I’ve been waiting for my forever family for a while now. People share my picture, tell me how pretty I am, and say they can’t believe I’m still waiting…
Trust me, I’m starting to wonder too. 🥺
So Sunday afternoon, don’t just scroll past another picture of me.
Come meet the REAL Roxy. 🐾❤️
Come say hi. Give me a treat. Spend a few minutes with me. Let me show you the girl behind all these posts and just how much love I have waiting for the right person.
And even if you’re not ready to adopt, come see us anyway! Come love on some rescue dogs, meet the Max Raven crew, and maybe help one of us find the person we’ve been waiting for. 🏡
Because every time that door opens, I can’t help but wonder…
“Is that them? Is that my family?” 🥹
Maybe Sunday will finally be my day. 🤍
🐾 Come meet me at Urban Hound Sunday afternoon!
And please SHARE — my forever person might see this because of you.
Love,
Roxy ❤️

🎉 Fun Fact Friday! 🐾
Did you know…
🐶 Dogs can learn over 150 words and gestures, and some can even recognize up to 250! 🤯
That means when your pup gives you that look after hearing words like…
🍪 “Treat”
🚶 “Walk”
🚗 “Bye-bye”
🏡 “Home”
…they’re not just guessing—they actually know what you’re saying!
Now we want to know…
💬 What’s the ONE word your pet never ignores?
Is it “treat,” “outside,” “car ride,” “dinner,” or something completely different? 😂
Drop it in the comments and don’t forget to share a picture of your furry friend! 📸❤️

🐾 Where Are They Now Wednesday 🐾
This week’s update is extra special. ❤️
Do you remember Augustus, one of Crystal’s puppies? Well, these days he’s known as Ernie… and honestly, he looks exactly like an Ernie. 🥹
Ernie was adopted 2 years ago by the wonderful Les and Shawn, and he is absolutely thriving. He spends his days living his best life with his big (but somehow still smaller than him 😆) sister, Allie.
Recently, they reached out with a message that truly touched our hearts.
A close family member passed away, and in lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, they asked that donations be made to a local animal rescue or humane society. They chose Max Raven Animal Rescue, and we are incredibly honored.
They shared this with us:
“We’d like to donate to you in her honor. I hope you are well. Ernie is an amazing puppy. He is the most loving creature, and when he’s happy he jumps about 4 feet straight into the air and puts a smile on everyone’s faces. ❤️”
Moments like these remind us that rescue isn’t just about saving animals—it’s about the lifelong connections that continue long after adoption. Donations made in honor of loved ones help us save the next dog or cat who needs a second chance, and we are so grateful.
💙 A little trip down memory lane…
Ernie is one of Crystal’s eight puppies. Crystal (now Ooma) was heartbreakingly dumped while pregnant in Oklahoma. An incredible family found her, took her in, cared for her through the birth of her puppies, and loved them until they were about two weeks old. Then they became part of the Max Raven family!
Because of that act of kindness, Crystal and all eight of her puppies were given the opportunity to find loving forever homes. Even more amazing, that Oklahoma family still follows our journey and continues to support the rescue today. ❤️
The puppies turned 2 years old at the beginning of June, and seeing updates like this is exactly why we do what we do.
🐶 Now we need your help!
We would LOVE to hear from Ernie’s siblings and, of course, from Mama Crystal (Ooma) Ernie says he really wants to see how everyone is doing too. 😊
If you adopted one of Crystal’s puppies, drop an updated photo in the comments or send us a message. We’d love to feature you in a future Where Are They Now Wednesday!
As always, thank you to every adopter, foster, volunteer, and supporter who makes stories like Ernie’s possible. ❤️🐾

Hi… it’s me, Sunny. ☀️
I have a question…
Why hasn’t anyone picked me?
A little while ago, I watched my brother pack up his toys and leave with his forever family. I wagged my tail and watched him walk out the door. I was so happy for him…
Then the door closed.
And I stayed.
My foster family loves me so much, and I’m so grateful they’re keeping me safe while I wait. But every time someone comes to meet a dog, I can’t help but hope maybe this time they’ll be coming for me.
I’m not looking for perfect.
I just want someone who will see me, be patient while I get to know them, and let me show them how much love I have to give. Once I trust you, I promise I’m worth the wait.
So I’ll keep hoping.
Maybe tomorrow.
Maybe next week.
Maybe… you’re reading this right now.
If you can’t adopt me, would you share my story? My forever family might be one share away.
Love,
Sunny ❤️🐾

A Tail of Two Dogs: From a Foster's Perspective, Dee has been busy!
I've been pretty busy lately. Between two rather large dogs being returned and getting Mango and her kittens ready for adoption by having them spayed and neutered, there hasn't been much downtime.
The busy work? I can handle that.
The hard part is when dogs come back.
I've had Cash back for three weeks now. Not once has he shown a bad behavior. Birdie came back Monday night. I had shared that she may have found her person, but in the end, she just wasn't the right fit for his life. He had company often, and despite giving her a couple of weeks to settle in, learn her new home, and simply decompress, he made the difficult decision to return her.
At the risk of sounding bitter, I'm honestly not. If it wasn't the right fit for him, then it wasn't the right fit for Birdie either.
My heartbreak comes from watching how completely she attached to him in such a short time.
Birdie needs the right person, just like Cash does.
That first day back, she looked defeated. Almost as if she had resigned herself to never having a permanent home or family. My first reaction is always anger—not at the adopter—but at the long line of people before who have tried and given up on dogs like her. Dogs like Cash.
But I also know there are special people out there. People willing to push through the difficult days, ask for help, take advice, and commit to giving a dog every chance to succeed.
We live in a disposable world. A world where convenience often wins. Where hard work is measured by promotions, money, and success.
I measure it differently.
I measure it by how committed someone is to the animals and people they love.
Every animal that comes through my home carries some level of heartbreak. I see it in their eyes. They aren't broken. They're simply hoping that this time...they finally belong.
Sometimes they don't arrive perfectly behaved. Sometimes they need patience, structure, and understanding. Sometimes they require us to adjust our lives a little so they can become the dog they're capable of being.
It's only day two for Birdie.
My life is probably different than most. I don't have much of a social life, so no one is constantly coming and going. My home is intentionally built around helping foster animals decompress, find balance, and prepare for permanent homes.
It's too early to know exactly how Birdie will flourish, but we'll find the tools she needs so her next home can truly be her last.
Birdie is a guardian breed. She bonds deeply to her person and naturally wants to protect both them and her home. Those traits aren't flaws—they simply require understanding and commitment. We even offered professional training at our expense during her trial adoption. That offer wasn't accepted, and that's okay. Now she'll stay here with me.
I originally built her a beautiful outdoor enclosure, but dogs aren't meant to be lawn ornaments. They're family.
So Birdie has her own room inside. It's her safe place while she sorts through all her feelings, slowly meets my own pack, gets to know Cash, and tries to figure out who this strange woman is that's asking her to trust all over again.
Today is a good day.
Coffee with Cash and my dogs this morning. Coffee with Birdie a little later.
You can't rush trust.
You can't rush comfort.
You certainly can't rush love.
Birdie—and of course, Cash—will stay here until that special person or family comes along. The one willing to be a little inconvenienced, a little more patient, a little more selfless, and willing to learn how their dog learns.
Because here's the thing...
They're already doing a pretty incredible job of being dogs in my home.
And for every little inconvenience they bring, they give me something far greater in return.
A fuller heart..❤️🐕

🖤 THEO IS READY TO BE SOMEONE’S BOY 🖤
Seriously… look at him. 😍
Theo is handsome, fluffy, playful, affectionate, and just the right amount of ridiculous. He loves sitting by the window watching the world go by, chirping at the birds and keeping tabs on everything happening outside.
And when Theo decides he wants affection? You WILL know. 😂 He stretches up asking to be picked up, and if you’re a little slow getting the message, he’ll quite literally start climbing you.
Once he’s up there, congratulations—you now have a Theo neck warmer. 🐈⬛❤️
This sweet, goofy boy is ready for a forever home where he can play, bird-watch, cuddle, and have a person of his very own.
Who’s ready to be climbed by Theo for the rest of his life? 😅
Please SHARE and help us find his forever! 🖤🐾
