No matter how bad your day was, atleast your name isn’t Dick Schmoker…( unless you are Dick Schmoker…)

So….I was lucky enough to score a kick ass drafting table this week, way better than the cheap one I had been using, but I paid less for the better one. After figuring out how to get it home and set up in my “spare time” I was finally able to use it, I wanted to do something mindless and easy, and being the Hawaiian shirt month guy, I thought maybe I should make something for the fire victims in Lahaina/ Maui.. so here is my first illustration on my new table…rough draft, then finished product.. a few hours, and it was fun…

I’m glad Maddie and her mom Heather have allowed me to use the construction of her sign to show my process…

Step 1-spray paint the cardboard background!
Step 2- breakout a brush and try to make some words!
Step 3-more spray paint!
Step 4- break out a pencil and try to make an outline!
Step -5 put a bunch of paint together to kind of resemble a face..and hair!
Step 6- paint over all the stuff that doesn’t look like the person with paint that makes those spaces look like the person!
Step 7- paint a bunch of sparkly stuff and flowers to distract people from the person part!
Step 8- give the picture to the people and hopefully they smile!!

An oldie but a goodie

Sometimes the process isn’t perfect, it takes a little more effort or time (sometimes you put an N where an M should be) but you work through it, face the adversity and in the end it’s all worth it! ( like Marriage!). Congratulations Julia and Emilio!!
