This year the United Way's Day of Action for volunteers centered around the local issue of food insecurity. 🥕🍅
We are so grateful to have had the helping hands and hearts of employees from Black Hills Energy, FMNE Insurance, and Ameritas to complete much needed maintenance across three of our sites!
At the end of two hours, we had a completely weeded and cleaned out greenhouse. Trees were pruned, weeds were pulled, and debris was hauled away from the Southern Heights Food Forest. Black Hills Energy went above and beyond lending their trucks and bobcat at our Prairie Pines location. Our tunnel was disassembled, a compost pile renovated and a truckload of debris was hauled from Prairie Pines.
Most importantly, we met new people in our community, worked seamlessly together and will help hundreds of people grow food to feed themselves and their neighbors this year! 🙌
