Howdy Hummer Charm! Petunias are one of the easiest flowers to grow. The hummingbirds arenโ€™t picky. Whatever color you plant they will visit. The South Texas heat is starting to get to some of my flowers. I see some replanting in the near future. I will have to start planning for Fall migration. I start seeing migrators in August but peak is around mid to late September. I need to start stocking up on sugar also. Itโ€™s never too early to start getting ready. Ruby-throated female in these photos. Have a great Thursday Hummer Charm!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž Corpus Christi, Texas 6-18-26

Itโ€™s been a very rainy week due to a tropical system that moved in over us. I think we got 8 inches of rain yesterday and Buffy stayed on his swing all day. He didnโ€™t even go chase any other birdie. The rain was so hard. Looking forward to a sunny day to have better lighting for photos. Bye bye tropical storm Arthur. Thanks for all the needed rain! ๐ŸŒง๏ธโ›ˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

HUMMINGBIRD HELLO!

Photos from Hummingbird-News's post 06/16/2026

HELLO HUMMER CHARM! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜Š Hope you all are having a great week!

To continue the story of Joey and Girlie Princessโ€ฆ Girlie
is here, although she is very elusive. She is probably nesting, but every time I see her, THE OVERSEER swoops down from his high perch and a big chase ensues. She will try to sneak a drink from the flowers or feeder, but he sees everything! ๐Ÿ‘€

I hope later in the season he will be kinder and let her get some nectar. In the meantime, I have a few photos of her that I was lucky to get. She is very graceful and sweet. And fierce enough to defend herself against Joey! ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป

Hey there Hummer Charm! We are having a lot of rain due to a tropical system moving in from the Gulf and itโ€™s so needed. Between rain bands Iโ€™m trying to get some photos. Hereโ€™s the male and female Black-chinned. The feeder in front of the metal sun is very popular and makes for pretty pictures. The Black-chinned males do not like each other but sometimes the females will share the feeder with another female. If they only understood thereโ€™s plenty of nectar to go around they could relax a little bit. Have a Happy Tuesday Hummer Charm!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž Corpus Christi, Texas 6-16-26

Greetings from South Texas Hummer Charm! Hereโ€™s a gorgeous Buff-bellied male that has been in my yard for at least 3 years maybe more. This is the one I call Buffy. He comes when I yell for him if he hears my voice. Sometimes he will hover right in front of my face so Iโ€™ve gotten great looks at him. His gorget just glows at certain angles. Buffy is the first one to show up every morning and usually comes back every 30 minutes. He also sits on his swing under the patio if itโ€™s raining. He has the right idea! I just love this little guy! Have a great Monday Hummer Charm! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž Corpus Christi, Texas 6-15-26

On this day in 1777 a national flag was approved for the newly formed 13 colonies. Although itโ€™s not a federal holiday, many states have parades and celebrations throughout the country. Our country has grown and the flag has changed a lot since 1777 but the pride in country is still the same. Have a great Sunday Hummer Charm! Corpus Christi, Texas 6-14-26

HELLO HUMMER CHARM! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜Š Happy Weekend!

I have shared photos of Juvenile Joey from last year and that I believe the same bird has returned all grown up! His characteristics, body type and personality are the same and he now has an extended name.

I named him โ€˜Joeyโ€™ last year because of a Friends episode I remember. Joey was on a date with a girl and she took a french fry off his plate and Joey said: โ€œJoey doesnโ€™t share food!โ€ Hummingbird Joey is exactly the same. Very territorial and doesnโ€™t share with anyone. Except a female once in a while.

He is also very, very quick and now has a red gorget. So his last name is: Ferrari! (Also my favorite Formula One team! ๐ŸŽ๏ธ)

And, he has a nickname: The Overseer! He sits at the top of the dead part of a tree all day, every day. Swoops down on the flowers or for a drink or to chase, and Iโ€™m sure he flies to other yards as well. So his full name is: JOEY โ€œTHE OVERSEERโ€ FERRARI!

Here are some photos of him โ€˜Overseeingโ€™ and from May in the yard. Difficult to get photos as he is soooo fast and still getting the camera focus dialed in! Enjoy! ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป

Hummer Charm, check out this Black-chinned female beauty. There are several of these zooming around my backyard. They are paler and have more brown in them as compared to the Ruby-throated female. Black-chinned females have this grace and daintiness to them. Then they can turn around and chase the meanest hummingbirds away. Best of both worlds: cute and dainty but also fierce protector. Love these little beauties. Have a great Saturday everyone!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž Corpus Christi, Texas
