A severe thunderstorm risk exists across West Central Ohio this evening. The combination of modestly unstable air and increased wind shear associated with a nearby warm front will generate showers and thunderstorms early tonight.
Storm Prediction Center has highlighted most of West Central Ohio in a level 1/5 risk for severe thunderstorms. The southern fringes of our viewing area shown on the map are in a level 2/5.
The time frame for our severe weather chances will be between 8 PM and 1 AM. After that, the focus will shift to generally windy (but not severe) weather for Friday.
The most likely impacts from any isolated severe thunderstorms that MAY develop this evening (it's not a certainty that we see severe weather locally) are damaging wind gusts, though an isolated, brief tornado can't be ruled out.
Have a way to get warnings through the evening. We will break into programming if conditions warrant.
Wind Advisory for Wind Gusts to 45 MPH, 7 AM to 7 PM Friday
Partly cloudy tonight with areas of fog late. Low 45. Showers and isolated gusty storms late Thursday (5 PM to 11PM). One or two could be strong to severe. Have ways to get warnings! Much colder by the weekend with flurries.
