What are your hallways teaching?
It sounds like a strange question at first.
After all, teaching happens in classrooms...right?
But students spend hundreds of hours each year moving through hallways, transitioning between classes, walking to lunch, heading to specials, and returning to their classrooms.
What if those spaces could do more?
What if hallways reinforced:
⭐ Character
⭐ Self-regulation
⭐ Executive functioning
⭐ Faith formation
⭐ Positive school culture
As a school-based OT, it's a question I've been thinking about a lot lately.
I recently wrote a blog post exploring how schools can transform everyday spaces into opportunities for learning, movement, and growth.

Where does faith formation happen? ✝️
When we think about faith formation in Catholic schools, we often think about religion class, Mass, prayer services, and sacramental preparation.
Those moments are incredibly important.
But what about the moments in between?
The hallway between classes.
The walk to lunch.
The transition back to the classroom.
What if those everyday moments could reinforce the same messages we're teaching in religion class?
At Sacred Steps, we believe faith formation doesn't only happen during scheduled religion time.
It happens when students move through a Bible story.
It happens when they practice deep breathing while tracing a cross.
It happens when they are reminded that they are loved, forgiven, brave, and never alone.
As a school-based occupational therapist, I know movement helps students regulate, focus, and learn.
As a Catholic, I believe our school environments can help reinforce faith throughout the day.
Sometimes faith formation happens one step at a time. 💜
If you'd like to see what a faith-based sensory path could look like in your school, send me a photo of your hallway or wall and I'll create a complimentary mockup!

"Do students actually keep using the sensory path after the excitement wears off?" 🤔
That's one of the questions we hear most from school leaders — and this review from Delphos St. John's Preschool says it all:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "We had Sacred Steps Sensory Paths installed last summer and our students loved it during the school year! Families and siblings love it when visiting too. Quick and easy install, and they're still in great shape!"
A FULL YEAR later:
✔️ Students still enjoying it
✔️ Families noticing it on visits
✔️ Still looking great
✔️ Still a valuable part of the school day
That's the true measure of success. 💛
Thinking about adding movement, regulation & faith formation to your school next year? Summer is the perfect time to start planning. 🙏

What makes Sacred Steps different from other sensory paths?
It's a question I get asked all the time.
The answer isn't the vinyl.
It's not the colors.
It's not even the movement.
It's what happens while students are moving.
Most sensory paths help students regulate.
Sacred Steps helps students regulate while learning Bible stories, exploring the Sacraments, reflecting on Catholic virtues, praying, and growing in their faith.
As a school-based OT, I know movement helps students focus, transition, and prepare for learning.
As a Catholic business owner, I wanted to create something that supported the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
That's why Sacred Steps exists.
Students aren't just moving.
They're growing.
💜 Faith + Movement
💜 Purposeful Regulation
💜 Catholic Identity

Summer is one of my favorite times of year for Sacred Steps. ☀️
Not because school is out...but because it's when schools start dreaming about what's possible for the year ahead.
A hallway becomes a sensory path.
An empty wall becomes a calming space.
A transition area becomes an opportunity for movement, regulation, and success.
As a school-based OT, that's my favorite part of this work—helping schools see the potential in spaces they already have.
If you've been thinking about adding a sensory path, calming station, or movement space before students return this fall, now is the perfect time to start planning.
🎁 Through Monday, schools that purchase a full path will receive a complimentary activity station ($150 value).
I'd love to help you bring your vision to life.

Close your eyes for a second. 👇
Think about the last few weeks of school. The kids who were done. The transitions that felt impossible. The teachers running on empty.
Now ask yourself honestly — could your school use more sensory support?
I already know the answer. Because after 10+ years as a school-based OT, the answer is always yes. Every single school. Every single year.
The question is whether you're going to do something about it before September.
Right now — through June 15th only — purchase any full Sacred Steps path and choose a FREE bonus activity worth $150. 🎁

🇺🇸 One of the most unique Sacred Steps installations to date!
This sensory path installation at Perry Hall Christian School in Maryland was completed as an Eagle Scout project by Chris Johns of Scout Troop 746.
I was honored when Chris chose Sacred Steps Sensory Paths for his project and used his leadership skills to help create a space that will serve students for years to come.
As a school-based occupational therapist, I love seeing communities come together to support children through purposeful movement, regulation, and inclusion. What makes this project even more special is knowing that it was led by a young person committed to making a lasting impact in his school.
A huge thank you to Chris, Scout Troop 746, his family, the volunteers, and everyone at Perry Hall Christian School who helped bring this vision to life!
❤️ Projects like this remind me that a sensory path is about so much more than decals on a wall or floor—it's about creating spaces where students can move, regulate, learn, and thrive.
Would your school, church, Scout troop, youth group, or service organization be interested in sponsoring a sensory path project? I'd love to help make it happen!

Your school hallway is one of the most underutilized spaces in your building. 👀
Students walk through it dozens of times every day — yet most hallways just sit there, doing nothing.
What if yours could:
✓ Support self-regulation
✓ Encourage purposeful movement
✓ Reinforce faith and values
✓ Improve transitions throughout the school day
✓ Help students return to learning ready to focus
That's exactly what a Sacred Steps Sensory Path does. ✝️
📸 Send me a photo of your hallway, wall, counseling office, or common area and I'll create a FREE custom mockup showing exactly what a Sacred Steps installation could look like in YOUR space.
No obligation. Just a chance to see what's possible.

I get a lot of questions before a school places their first Sacred Steps order. Things like:
"Will it damage our floors?"
"How long does it last?"
"Can we wax over it?"
"What if our hallway is an odd size?"
So I finally answered them all in one place — honestly and completely. No fluff. Just real answers from the OT who designed every path. 🙏
