β οΈ Severe Weather Update for Wednesday β οΈ
Today remains a day to stay weather aware across Allen County and the surrounding area.
While a few storms are possible earlier in the day, the main severe weather threat is expected between 5:00 PM and Midnight EDT. Our entire area is currently included in an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms.
Potential hazards include:
π¬οΈ Damaging winds in excess of 70 mph
π§ Large hail
πͺοΈ Tornadoes
π§οΈ Flooding from heavy rainfall
Now is the time to prepare. Review your severe weather plan, make sure your devices are charged, and ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings.

π¨ Remember: Outdoor warning sirens are activated for tornado warnings and are intended to alert people who are outdoors to seek additional weather information and shelter. Sirens should not be relied upon as your primary method of receiving warnings while indoors.

Forecasts continue to evolve for Wednesday, and while some details have changed, Allen County still has the potential to see severe weather.

The greatest concern continues to be Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, with multiple rounds of storms possible.

β οΈ WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY β οΈ
The National Weather Service has placed our area under a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Tuesday, June 16, generally between 5:00 PM and Midnight. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few stronger storms could develop.
Wednesday, June 17, when our area is under a Slight Risk for severe weather from approximately 4:00 PM through 3:00 AM Thursday morning.
π©οΈ Primary Threat: Damaging straight-line winds
Additional hazards may include:
β’ Frequent lightning
β’ Heavy rainfall
β’ Isolated hail
Now is a good time to review your severe weather plans and ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially during the overnight hours Wednesday night.

This morning, the Allen County EMA Drone Team was requested to assist with a missing juvenile search in Putnam County.
We would like to thank the Putnam County Office of Public Safety-Ohio, Putnam County OH Sheriffs Office, and Ottawa Fire Department - Ohio
for their partnership and for calling upon our team to assist with this important mission.
The ability for agencies to work together across jurisdictional boundaries is critical when time matters most. We are grateful for the opportunity to support our neighboring communities and proud of the strong relationships that help make these responses possible.
Thank you to all responders involved for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

WEATHER ALERT FOR ALLEN COUNTY
We are monitoring the potential for strong to severe storms Monday and Tuesday across our area. A Slight Risk for severe weather is in place both days.
π Monday (May 18)
β’ Main threat: Damaging winds up to 60 mph
β’ Greatest storm coverage expected between 2 PM β 10 PM
β’ Heavy rain and localized flooding possible
π Tuesday (May 19)
β’ All severe weather hazards possible, including:
πͺ Isolated tornadoes
π§ Large hail
π¨ Damaging winds
π§ Heavy rainfall
β Storms both days could produce rainfall rates greater than 1 inch per hour.
π‘ In addition to the storm threat, hot and humid conditions are expected with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and high humidity levels.

β’ Secure outdoor items before storms arrive
β’ Stay weather aware Monday and Tuesday afternoon/evening

A slight risk of storms is expected across our area later today. At this time, storms are not expected to be widespread or overly severe, but a few stronger cells could still develop.

Last night, the Allen County Drone Team was requested by Beaverdam-Richland Fire & Rescue and the Ohio State Highway Patrol for a drone deployment.
Our team responded to provide aerial support and real-time situational awareness from aboveβhelping give responders a clearer picture on scene.
We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside both agencies and continue strengthening partnerships across Allen County.
