Kentucky shortstop Tyler Bell has been selected No. 10 overall by the Colorado Rockies in the 2026 MLB draft.

The Tampa Bay Rays selected Bell 66th overall in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He opted to not sign and came to UK for two seasons, he was the highest pick in the draft that did not sign.

Bell took a chance on Nick Mingione and Kentucky, a chance that paid off as he became the highest drafted player of the Mingione era and the third highest in school history.

Former University of Kentucky basketball guard Kerr Kriisa has been taken into custody by the FBI in an alleged connection to a $2.2 million scam.

Kriisa was arrested on July 3 in Lexington, and is awaiting extradition to West Virginia ahead of his court hearing, which is set to take place this week.

According to a five count indictment of wire fraud from the Department of Justice, prosecutors allege that beginning in 2022 and continuing to June 2026, Kriisa “devised and intended to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud and obtain money” through fraudulent pretenses and representations.

Former Kentucky guard Otega Oweh has officially completed his rise from breakout transfer to NBA draft pick with his No. 41 overall selection to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oweh joins former Wildcats Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Cason Wallace.

In his final senior season, Oweh scored in double figures in 35 of Kentucky’s 36 games and scored 671 total points – the most ever in a single year from a Kentucky transfer. The guard also averaged 21.1 PPG in SEC play, led the team in scoring and steals for the second consecutive season and led the team in points in 22 games.
