Central Kentucky Riding for Hope is a non-profit organization providing Equine-Assisted Activities. Ability…Not Disability is the CKRH way!

Central Kentucky Riding for Hope (CKRH) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and health of children and adults with special physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs through therapeutic activities with horses. Equine assisted activities and therapies provide independence, achievement and community to the individuals that we serve.

We are honored to announce a new partnership with Trotting Towards Hope (the Susan L. Canole Foundation), whose mission is to support children through grief, life transitions, and personal growth through equine-assisted services and programs. The Foundation believes in the quiet, powerful wisdom of horses and the deep healing that programs like Central Kentucky Riding for Hope can provide.

This partnership is an inspiring fit for CKRH's mission to improve the lives of children through equine-assisted services. Together, we recognize the incredible impact horses can have on emotional well-being, personal growth, confidence, and connection.

With support from Trotting Towards Hope (the Susan L. Canole Foundation) grant, CKRH will expand our reach, increase access to services, and create more opportunities for children to experience the healing power of the horse and the growth possible in a safe, supported environment.

We are deeply grateful for their investment in our community and their commitment to ensuring that more children have access to life-changing equine experiences.

💚Here's to trotting towards hope—together.

It looks like our adorable mini Caesar and our quarter horse Vegas both had the same idea when they saw the Kentucky Performance Products buckets come out. Who gets first dibs? We're pretty sure that's still up for debate! 😄

While these two may be focused on what's in the bucket, we're focused on saying THANK YOU to Kentucky Performance Products for their incredible support of CKRH. As a year-round sponsor, KPP generously donates supplements that help our herd stay healthy, happy, and ready to serve our riders. For more than 25 years, Kentucky Performance Products has been committed to providing research-proven equine nutrition and supplements designed to support horses at every stage of life.

Our horses are at the heart of everything we do, and partners like KPPusa help ensure they receive the care and nutritional support they deserve. To learn more about Kentucky Performance’s products visit kppusa.org

We love bringing our Minis on the Move program to the community, and recently the Wonder Twins had the joy of visiting Camp Shawano. We spent the morning with Kentucky’s Adaptive Girl Scout Troop, where the girls learned the basics of pony grooming and discovered how to keep a pony’s coat shiny and healthy. For many of the Girl Scouts, it was their very first time meeting a miniature pony. Seeing their excitement, curiosity, and bright smiles made the visit truly unforgettable.

Popsicles, ponies, and plenty of smiles! So many summer camp memories were made last week, and we can’t wait for the next one. Because no two camps are ever the same—and that's what makes each one so special!

We had a fantastic time this weekend at the Kentucky Horse Park World Day of the Horse celebration on Saturday. Eve loved getting to meet everyone! She even got to have a custom vase made with some of her hair.

All our horses are so loved here at CKRH and it is always hard when we have to say goodbye to one. With that in mind, we want to let you know that our beloved horse, Astrid, recently passed away.

Astrid had a gentle, steady presence that made her special to everyone who spent time with her. Many of you groomed her, handwalked her, or enjoyed her company during her many years in lessons. She had a way of making those small moments meaningful, and it was clear how much she was loved by staff and volunteers.

We are blessed that she lived to the age of 31, and are grateful that she spent her official retirement with us at CKRH (She retired from programming in March of 2025). Her retirement was filled with grooming sessions with volunteers and time relaxing and grazing with our other retired mare, Bella.

This community has been a driving force loving each and every one of the horses at CKRH over the years. We’re truly thankful for each of you.

Have a story or photo about Astrid we would love to have you share it in the comments!
