Phoenix Park is complete! The cherry on top, the new custom sign for Phoenix, designed by Element with final detailing and fabrication by the amazing talents at B Sign Group, is in and alight. 😍
Thanks to one of our favorite clients, Lexington, KY Parks & Recreation, for trusting us with the design for this bright and fun piece.

Bravo, Lexington. Phoenix Park is a success story I did not think was possible. | Opinion 10/08/2025

Landscape Architecture has power to make real positive change in urban areas. We are so thrilled to see Phoenix busy every day since the fences came down, full of kids playing, live music, entertainment, everyday live, work, play.

We've built, renovated, and opened more parks across Louisville than ever before, and today we opened New Walnut Street Park in the Russell neighborhood.

This is just one more way we're building safe, welcoming public places that create a healthier Louisville and a higher quality of life. 09/30/2025

It's been a great couple weeks for community park ribbon cuttings at Element! Today brings the official opening of New Walnut Park in Louisville, with an awesome synthetic turf field made possible by a generous donation from the Cincinnati Bengals, great community vision and support, one of our favorite clients, Louisville Metro Parks. Thanks to JRA Architects, KPFF and CMTA for being great teammates. Also thanks to great vendors like DWA Recreation and The Motz Group and terrific Contractor Sullivan Cozart.

Phoenix Park is open! What a fun and creative four years (and dreaming big for many years before that!) working with one of our favorite clients, Lexington, KY Parks & Recreation and the Lexington community to reimagine Phoenix Park! Thank you to our consultant team Gresham Smith and KFI Engineers to help visualize and engineer the dream. General Contractor, Haire Construction, for being such an excellent team player and their commitment to the details, and a special not to electrician, Randy Walker Electric, for a lot of creative solutions and dedication in the field. Also thank you to a ton of vendors who made each piece and component of Phoenix so special, including playground equipment, furnishings, custom structures, pavers, Miracle Playgrounds of KY & TN, Bluegrass Recreation Sales and Installation, DWA Recreation, Landscape Forms, Keystone Ridge Designs, Inc., Reading Rock

WKU listed in 'Guide to Green Colleges' for 15th straight year 10/28/2024

Western Kentucky University is a campus we've been proud to partner with for over 20+ years of great campus progress, creating outdoor spaces for learning and connection. Congrats to WKU for once again being listed in the 'Guide to Green Colleges.'

We love the photo included in this article, of our recent partnership with WKU, the newly completed Garrett Plaza at WKU's Hilltop. A great example of WKU's commitment to greening on campus, removing cars and roadways from the middle of campus in favor of pedestrian open spaces.

WKU listed in 'Guide to Green Colleges' for 15th straight year For the 15th consecutive year, Western Kentucky University has been recognized as one of the nation's most environmentally responsible colleges, according to The Princeton Review®

We've had so much fun dreaming this space together with WKU for the past couple of years and are excited to see this awesome project reach completion, becoming a great new campus space for all of WKU's students, faculty, staff and visitors to enjoy.

From eyesore to asset: Here’s a peek at plans for downtown Lexington park overhaul 04/22/2023

The design for Phoenix Park at last has gone public!
We are excited to see the design starting to move closer to reality with the City and hopefully community stakeholders pitching in to fund this much needed reimagining of our central downtown plaza.

The design process with our team members it Lexington Parks & Recreation, Gresham Smith and KFI Engineers has been a fun, collaborative journey, we can't wait to see it to reality.

From eyesore to asset: Here’s a peek at plans for downtown Lexington park overhaul “It’s become this random block that no one wants to invest in,” said Jason Ervin, a resident who has pushed the city for more than a decade to upgrade the park.

Thrilled to have been part of this team, working closely on the design and details. Town Branch Commons has been an amazing opportunity to work with an expansive team of landscape architects and engineers.

Most importantly, TBC is a key player in the ongoing vibrant evolution of our downtown Lexington. 💙

Press conference this morning to announce the new park in Louisville's Russell neighborhood, as well as a $250,000 grant from the Cincinnati Bengals toward the new synthetic turf field that serves as the centerpiece of the Park design, what an awesome opportunity provided by the Bengals!

The Park design is really taking shape as we collaborate with Metro Parks, and our team members JRA Architects, CMTA and KPFF, making positive impacts in our community.
