It’s another sad time for the Shuck family with the passing of my beloved uncle, Steve Shuck on Thursday morning April 2, 2026 at the age of 90. He was the younger brother and only sibling of my father Tommy, who we lost last October as many of you know. Steve was a great man who dedicated his life to his family, had a lengthy career in education and athletics at the high school level, and loved sports immensely. Take a few minutes to read the web story from WCPO-TV in Cincinnati (the link is below) to get a small sense of the impact he had in just one aspect of his life. It’s a testament to the dedicated, humble, and honorable man he was.
Even though I didn’t see him nearly enough over the years despite being just a few hours away, he and I shared a special bond. Until his grandson Kyle came along a little over 20 years ago, I literally was the only boy in a sea of daughters, nieces, granddaughters and great nieces on that side of the family for much of our lives. We always loved talking about sports of any kind and he was a huge supporter of mine. My dad always spoke of how much he and I were alike in so many ways, especially when it came to sports related things and reeling off statistics. In fact, from the time I was very young everyone thought I looked like my Uncle Steve and through my 25 plus years on TV, I received countless emails from viewers that knew him asking, “Are you Steve Shuck’s son?” It was a running joke in the family no doubt. I was always so proud to mention that he was on Lafayette’s (my alma mater) 1953 State Championship basketball team under legendary Coach Ralph Carlisle. Uncle Steve had 6 points in the championship game (My Dad said he had 19 points in the semis) and it was always cool to see his name in the official box score when looking back in the KHSAA “Sweet 16” tourney program each year.
Please keep his wife Lorie, my cousins Kerry, Kelly, Trisha along with Lorie’s children and of course all his grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved him deeply in your prayers over the coming days as they mourn him and we celebrate his incredible life. He was one of a kind and I will miss him very much. Rest easy Uncle Steve.

Happy 21st Birthday to my middle daughter, Brooklyn Shuck. You’ve finally hit that magic number and it’s amazing how fast the time has gone by. You’ve accomplished more in 21 years than some folks do in a lifetime. I’m super proud of you and the gorgeous woman you’ve grown into. I know the sky is the limit for you like it always has been! Have a fantastic day and cheers! 🍻🍻🍻 Love, Dad. ❤️❤️❤️🎁🎉🎈
