Once we removed the shingles, we discovered the home had 1x4 plank decking — an outdated system that does NOT meet modern code standards when spacing exceeds allowable limits under the 2021 IRC (International Residential Code).

A full redeck was required.

This is something that:

• Many insurance carriers initially miss
• Can turn into VERY costly repairs if ignored

Because we documented everything before, during, and after — the insurance carrier approved:

✔ New flashing system
✔ Complete redeck to code
