Reaching Hearts. Changing Lives.

As we celebrate 25 years of Lexington Rescue Mission, we're reflecting on the moments that helped shape our approach to lasting transformation. In 2008, the Mission expanded its services by creating walk-in hours with a social worker, offering employment counseling, opening a computer lab, and launching classes focused on budgeting and tenant rights and responsibilities. The following year, parenting classes were added to further support individuals and families on their journey toward stability.
These programs reflected a growing commitment to addressing not only immediate needs but also the barriers that can prevent someone from moving forward. Twenty-five years later, that commitment remains at the heart of everything we do. 💙

A change of clothes can restore more than comfort. It can restore dignity. 💙
Inspired by Acts 16:14-15, Lydia's Attic is more than a clothing ministry. It's a place where individuals and families experiencing hardship are welcomed with hospitality, compassion, and encouragement. Every item shared is an opportunity to remind someone that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
Between January and May of this year, 496 people visited Lydia's Attic, finding not only clothing and essentials, but also a community ready to support them. As a vital part of Lexington Rescue Mission's ministry, Lydia's Attic helps meet practical needs while opening the door to deeper conversations, meaningful relationships, and lasting hope.
What may begin as a need for clothing often becomes an opportunity to connect someone with additional resources, support, and the love of Christ. Because of the generosity of our community, Lydia's Attic continues to impact lives every day by providing more than necessities. It provides dignity, encouragement, and hope for the journey ahead.
For 25 years, every meal served, every bed provided, every life changed, and every story of hope restored has been possible because of a strong community of people. 💙
The Lexington Rescue Mission has never been just our story. It’s a story written by a community of generous supporters who believe that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and a chance for a new beginning. Your prayers, donations, volunteer hours, and encouragement have helped thousands of men, women, and children find hope when they needed it most.
As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we’re filled with gratitude for all that we’ve accomplished together. And as we look toward the future, we’re reminded that the next 25 years of impact will be made possible the same way the first 25 were: through your generosity.
Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for investing in changed lives. Thank you for helping make hope possible, year after year.

As the Lexington Rescue Mission celebrates 25 years of serving our community, we’re taking a look back at the milestones that have helped shape our mission and expand our impact.
In September 2012, The Mission adopted the nationally recognized employment training program Jobs for Life and began offering classes at our outreach center, strengthening our commitment to long-term transformation through meaningful work and support.
For 25 years, every step forward has been driven by one purpose: reaching more people with hope, help, and lasting change.

Today reminded us that hope has many addresses. ❤️
We had the privilege of visiting and touring the incredible work being done at the Lexington Rescue Mission with our gracious host, Executive Director Laura Carr.
From touring their Grace Place, Lexington, and seeing firsthand the women’s sober living program, to hearing the heart behind the mission, one thing became very clear — lives are being transformed every day. What an incredible example of faith in action. It truly felt like a Lexington Dream Center.
Thank you to Laura Carr and the entire team for what you do for the sake of souls, recovery, restoration, and humanity. We are excited about building a strong partnership together.
On our way back to Cynthiana, we also stopped by Amen House and Russ' Kitchen in Georgetown. Wow.🥰☺️
What an amazing ministry meeting people where they are — providing support for hunger, homelessness, crisis situations, and so much more. Their compassion and commitment to serving others are inspiring. We came home very inspired and encouraged.
Today was a reminder that when organizations work together instead of apart, communities become stronger and more lives can be changed.
Hope is happening. Recovery is happening. Lives are changing.
At the Lexington Rescue Mission, more people are walking through our doors than ever before, and with that comes both a growing need and an even greater opportunity to see lives transformed in Lexington, KY.
Every day, we’re not just meeting immediate needs like food, clothing, and shelter; we’re walking alongside people as they reunite with family, find freedom from addiction, and take steps back into the workforce to build stability for themselves and their loved ones.
Real hope and real change is happening here. Learn how you can support the mission, volunteer, or give today and be part of transforming lives in our community. Visit https://lexingtonrescue.org/

As Lexington Rescue Mission celebrates 25 years of serving our community, we’re looking back on the moments that helped shape our mission and expand our outreach.
In January 2004, the Mission purchased an abandoned nursing home on Glen Arvin Avenue after outgrowing our space on North Limestone. Renovations soon began to transform the building into what would become our new Outreach Center, creating more space to serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hardship in Lexington.
For 25 years, every expansion has been about one thing: reaching more people with hope, help, and lasting support. 💙

Meet Dwayne. 💙
Since October 2025, Dwayne has been part of Lexington Rescue Mission’s Homeless Intervention Program after first connecting with our Street Outreach team.
Several years ago, Dwayne suffered a stroke that left him with a brain injury, changing nearly every part of his daily life. After his medical challenges created financial hardship he could not overcome, he spent the last year and a half experiencing homelessness and moving from couch to couch just trying to get by.
Tasks that many of us complete without a second thought, like arranging transportation, filling out paperwork, or navigating appointments, became overwhelming obstacles filled with anxiety and uncertainty.
When Dwayne was finally approved for housing, there was one final step standing in the way: obtaining an updated Social Security award letter in person. For most people, this may seem simple. For Dwayne, it felt impossible.
His case manager, Alicia, carefully wrote out step-by-step instructions for the trip, including where to go, what to ask for, and even how to get back home safely. Before he left, they prayed together for peace and a safe journey.
The next day, Dwayne returned holding the verification he needed along with news that his benefits had increased.
But the greatest victory was not the paperwork.
The greatest victory was seeing Dwayne believe in himself again.
With support, encouragement, and compassionate care from Lexington Rescue Mission, Dwayne took the final steps needed to move into housing in May 2026. His story is a reminder that transformation often begins with someone believing you are capable, even when life has made you feel otherwise.
