School may be out, but FoodChain is still serving! We’ll be at the Coolavin Park Shelter every Monday through Friday of Fall Break, starting TODAY through next Monday, October 5, with meals for youth.

Our next FREE Community Cooking Class is putting a FoodChain spin on a comfort food favorite: Butternut Biscuits & Gravy! 🧈🍽️

Come cook with us as we turn one of our favorite local fall ingredients, butternut squash, into warm, savory biscuits and gravy. You’ll learn new cooking techniques, get hands-on in the FoodChain kitchen, and enjoy the delicious results!

♻️🌱 We’re GOLDEN! 🌟

FoodChain has officially been recertified at the Gold level through the Live Green Lexington Green Check program! And while sustainability has always been baked into what we do, there is one person who deserves a HUGE shoutout for keeping us moving forward.

👏 Congratulations to Gracie Olivares, our Program Administrator and Green Check MVP!

Gracie has taken Green Check far beyond checking boxes. She’s constantly finding new ways to reduce waste, reuse resources, and connect FoodChain with other Green Check members and community partners to make good things happen.

🚲 Organizing a Bike to Work Challenge for FoodChain Staff
📚 Stocking our Help Yourself Shelf with cookbooks from International Book Project, free for our neighbors to take home and put to good use
🎨 Connecting neighborhood youth with art kits from Lex Center for Creative ReUse
🔬 Building programming partnerships with The Living Arts & Science Center
🤝 Finding new opportunities to collaborate with Visit LEX, West Sixth Brewing, and other Green Check members

This is what sustainability looks like to us. Use what we have, waste less, share resources, build partnerships, and keep finding creative ways to strengthen our community.

Way to go, Gracie! 💚🏆 And thank you to the City of Lexington and our fellow Green Check members for creating a network where sustainability and collaboration can grow together.

We are so incredibly grateful for the work Operation Be You, Inc. and Farmer Brown do to engage youth in our community! We love hosting them in our space and learning their favorite Ramen & Jarritos flavors!
