Playing around with a new idea. 💡

These are tiny paintings dropped into a pendant.
I’m learning how to secure them, using gel medium and adhesive.
The watercolor and gel pens did some interesting things when I put the clear acrylic over it.
I think I can use that knowledge moving forward 🙂

Would you wear one of these? Or get one for a gift? Should I keep playing with them?

Celtic Mother and Child pendant.

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on any jewelry. This weekend I finally battled my sinus sick blues, and honestly my own self-doubt, and got to work on a commissioned project I started a couple of months ago.

So many obstacles to get this one done!

I got it soldered, only to leave it in the acid too long. It fell apart. 😬

Began the hunt for the gemstones requested and couldn’t find what I wanted. I settled for what I thought would work, only to find that the holes in the beads wouldn’t let anything all the way through. 😳

Tried to re-solder the wires 7-8x, and it wouldn’t hold through any bending/shaping. Then on the last attempt, under the flame the wire broke. 🙄

Started all over, with new wire and different solder supplies…done in 25m. 😅

Then the beads wouldn’t thread, but I finally found a stash I knew I had somewhere! I had the ONE GARNET I’d been looking for! Hooray!!

Success at last. 🎉
Perseverance paid off.
And the cussing was just part of the fun. Theo called up to me once “Honey? You ok? Are you on fire?”🔥

Cleaning out some boxes and bins today in my studio I found several notebooks and sketches. Most of these have become paintings or parts of paintings. It’s really fun to see my musings, little pieces of my heart and soul sketches out, just waiting to become something Grand.
