1. Buck talks too much. So does The TUBE. 👽
“So anyways, I was sayin'. We ain’t quite sure where it came from, but… it might be an alien device.
You see, I was talkin to ol’ Fiddlin' Frankie Mason after church. You know, that real weird feller from back of Rack Rock Ridge that talks too much? It seems it came down in the middle of his back twenty-seven. I ’member he used to have a back nine, but then he and Eli Creekstone made that shady deal and…
Now why’d you let me get off the subject. Anyway, ol’ Frankie Mase told me all about it.
Came down smack! in the middle of the field. Right about where Hattie Lou Hazelwood used ta live ’fore her house burned down. Glowin’ ship an’ all.
Frankie said they talked t’ him. Said they was leavin’ a present for all mankind in these troubled times. It would show us the way. Seems to only play bluegrass.
Yeah, I was surprised, too. Only it doesn’t seem to know quite what that is. Bluegrass, I mean. I keep seein’ some mighty weird things once in awhile, too.
You got some chips?”
Buck stops talking just long enough to reach over and twist the odd k**b on the device. It makes a weird humming noise, then a shiny graphic shimmers into view.
“The TUBE! is on!”
A rather strange voice is heard, as the logo slowly begins to glow a rather pleasant blue.
“The TUBE! is presently featuring the story songs of WANIGAN Live!™ and other incredible, edible, and altogether terribly exciting new streams in the RIVER! OF! BLUEGRASS!!! I’m your host, Harlan Ridgeway.”
The voice pauses dramatically for a moment.
“And now. Without further ado, let us embark together on our journey. We will course the raging river and mine the darkest depths of THAT OTHER THING OVER THERE DON’T GO TOWARD THE LIGHT MARY 📺 to find glowing gems of bygone history worthy of your eyeballs. And we’ll bring it back home with the best of bluegrass, etc. from all across the world.”
“But enough about us. We wanna feature you! It’s real fine and easy, just use that button on the 📺 to add a video to the playlist.”
WE’RE ALWAYS WATCHING 👽
“Wait, who said that?”
“I dunno, Buck, did’ya hear that too?”
PAY ABSOLUTELY NO ATTENTION TO THOSE THINGS FLOATING UP IN THE AIR AND THAT DOOR THAT JUST OPENED
“Uhhhhhh.. what the heey Buck?”
Buck’s flabber is gasted.
The VOICE™ continues inexorably in that bright, cheerful tone.
“Welllll anyhaps, on occasion-ness we get up to some fun weird times you won’t want to miss. You might call it a LIL OL’ OPRY if ya will. HEY! Pam, write that down.”
Another strange, higher-pitched voice can barely be heard somewhere off camera.
“What’s that, Pam? Can’t use it? What the heck is a trademark?”
You hear something else from "Pam" that you can’t quite make out.
The VOICE™ sounds apologetic, yet cheerful.
“Ah, gosh dern. Help us come up with something? We don’t know what to name this little variety show. And don’t forget to add your videos. Whatcha think?”

Nick Dumas, Chris Luquette, and Andrew Knapp came out to headline the 2024 Valley Bluegrass Festival and just rocked our socks off.
Nick Dumas and Chris Luquette are both Grammy® nominated, multi-talented musicians and singers who have performed in top bluegrass groups and are now out on their own rapidly growing solo careers. Andrew Knapp is a well-known bass player in the Northwest and a genius in his own right, hailing from Seattle bluegrass/dance band Warren G. Hardings.
The three of them together? Simply MAGIC.

Step back with me to 1997 in Eugene, Oregon with a free downloadable MP3 of my song INTO THE FLAME.
INTO THE FLAME — Firewind Productions The year was 1997. The time was pretty bright for me. I was playing with a remarkable little band with fantastic guitarist Jasen Hecker and amazing songwriter Ryan Mainierd. We had big dreams. I was greatly inspired by Ryan’s excellent songwriting, and I wanted to write an epic song about an epic ...
