Lewis Clark Imaging has made it to the final round for Best of the LC Valley!

As a small, locally owned imaging office being listed alongside the big hospitals systems feels kind of surreal.

If you’ve trusted us with your care, supported us, or even just shared our name with someone - you’ve been part of our success! THANK YOU!

We would be honored to have your vote as we celebrate your favorite local businesses ☑️

What Is a Thyroid Ultrasound and What to Expect

Most thyroid ultrasounds are painless, fast, and easily tolerated. It uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the thyroid gland and surrounding neck structures. This test is often used to evaluate the size, shape, and texture of the thyroid, detect nodules, cysts, or other abnormalities, and guide biopsies if necessary.

What Happens During the Exam?
* Preparation: This procedure requires little to no special preparation. Leave jewelry at home and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
* Procedure: You’ll lie on your back with your neck slightly extended. A small amount of gel is applied to your skin to help transmit sound waves. A sonographer moves a handheld device (transducer) over your neck to capture images.
* Duration: An ultrasound of the thyroid is usually completed within 30 minutes.

What Does It Detect?
Thyroid ultrasounds help identify:
* Nodules or lumps: These can be benign or may require further testing.
* Thyroid enlargement (goiter): Often caused by iodine deficiency or autoimmune conditions.
* Structural irregularities: Such as cysts or tumors, helping to guide next steps in care.

Since it doesn’t use radiation, ultrasound is safe for all patients. The test is quick, effective, and provides valuable information to guide your care.
