What makes this years especially meaningful is our theme, “We Are the Wildest Dreams.” We’ll hear from community elders reflecting on the history and experiences that shaped our communities, current leaders who are doing the work today, and young people sharing their hopes and dreams for the future. It’s a really a multi generational conversation.

At its core, this celebration is about honoring the legacy of those who came before us, recognizing the work happening today, and investing in the next generation.

We are one week away from COA’s fourth Annual Juneteenth Celebration: We Are the Wildest Dreams, and we would love to see you in the room.

This is the moment we look forward to every year — when the Benjamin Mays Center at Bates College fills with families, friends, delicious food from Bab’s Table, local resources, familiar faces, new connections, and the kind of community energy you can only feel when people show up together.

If you have joined us before, you already know the feeling. If this is your first time, we hope you will come experience it with us.

Bring your family, invite a friend, and don’t miss this year’s celebration.

📣 CALL TO ACTION: Lewiston Residents

The proposed budget for the Lewiston Public Schools includes the elimination of 30 positions despite an 11% increase in spending. The positions on the chopping block all interact with students directly and daily, providing education, material and emotional support, and guidance that impact children's ability to arrive and thrive at school.

Please engage with School Committee and City Council Members to ask them to protect these positions and to instead look for budget savings outside of the school budget. We especially want to protect the supports at Montello School as the largest group of immigrant and refugee students as well as students experiencing homelessness attend. See talking points on slide 3 to help with speaking and emailing members.
- Show up to the Committee Meeting Wed, April 15 at 5:30 PM at Connors Elementary School.
- Send emails - see comments for a list of email addresses or visit lewistonmaine.gov to find your ward or contacts.

The City Council will vote on the School Budget on May 5th and the public on May 12th.
