Going to use my platform here to help my neighbor and friend:

My neighbor recently broke off from his company to start his own concrete finishing business. He has years of experience and is a master at his craft. He has done work for a couple of friends of mine already and they are beyond happy (I can provide references, if you like). He got these jobs by being thousands of dollars cheaper on his bids (just trying to get the business going). Let me know if you want his contact info. He also happens to be one of the nicest people I know.

🔥 10 Years at The Royal! 🔥

We wrapped up our 2025 BBQ season at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS — marking our 10th cook at The Royal! 🙌

Saturday was WILD — juggling sides & dessert turn-ins while watching our boys throw down in the Kids Q 🥩🔥 Between running turn-ins and running back and forth, we somehow turned one of our smokers into a flamethrower 😆 (don’t worry… Barking Hogs BBQlet us know!).

We were stoked to snag 23rd in ribs this year (Woot!) and placed as high as 40th in turkey! 🦃💪
Overall, super proud of our cook and the way we wrapped up the season.

The KC Meat Sweats had an absolute blast at the Smoke On The Water BBQ Competition in Topeka, KS! 🔥🍖

Huge congrats to Chase and Squealin' N Dealin' BBQ for taking Grand Champion, and to DamnFine Beef & Swine Competition BBQ Team for snagging RGC — nice cook! 👏👏

We’re proud to have finished 19th overall out of 30 super competitive teams, and super happy with these results:

The competition was tough, the food was incredible, and the vibes were unbeatable. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, and made it such an awesome weekend. We can’t wait to fire up the smokers at the Royal World Series of Barbecue! 🔥💪

🔥 Get ready meat fans! The KC Meat Sweats will be smokin’ in Baldwin City, Kansas! 🔥

We’re thrilled to announce that KC Meat Sweats will be competing at the 7th Annual Smoke On The Bricks BBQ Competition on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9, 2025 in downtown Baldwin City, KS.

🍽️ Friday, August 8 — “Taste of Baldwin City"

From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, roughly a dozen local BBQ teams—including us—will be selling food to the public using official Baldwin City “BBQ Bucks”, which attendees purchase from the Baldwin City Recreation Commission between 4:00PM-8:00PM.

Live music all night! Smokin’ J’s play from 6:00–7:30 PM, followed by The Zeros headlining from 8:00–10:00 PM.

A portion of Friday night's vending proceeds support the Baldwin Education Foundation, while teams keep 90% of what they bring in from BBQ Bucks.

🏆 Saturday, August 9 — The BBQ Contest

Competition in the four standard KCBS categories: Chicken, Ribs, Pork, Brisket, plus Sausage and Dessert.

KCBS judging kicks off at 11:00 AM, with specific turn‑in times: Sausage at 11:30, Chicken at 12:00, Ribs 12:30, Pork 1:00, Brisket 1:30, Dessert at 2:00 PM.

Awards ceremony will be held at 3:30 PM at Baldwin City Beer Co.

We’ll be serving up some tasty treats (menu coming soon.) Swing by, say hi, and grab a bite to eat while supporting local BBQ. Stick around for an evening of good music and good times.
