SOR Controls Group
SOR Controls Group designs and manufactures measurement and control devices for measuring pressure, To us, quality means reliability.
Quality, service and delivery have formed the foundation of SOR service to the process industry since 1946. It means designing, developing and manufacturing the safest, most robust industrial instruments available. Instruments that precisely fulfill your specifications. Instruments that meet or exceed the highest standards of certification worldwide.

โ๏ธ Nuclear water injection systems protect reactor cores during accident conditions. The differential pressure switch controlling the minimum flow valves has to be exactly right.
The SOR Measurement and Control 141 Series Nuclear-Qualified Differential Pressure Switch has performed that job at a Midwestern US nuclear power facility since 2005, passing every routine check and holding its set points.
Here is why nuclear engineers specify the SOR 141 Series:
โ
1E qualified
๐ High repeatability: ยฑ1% full scale per ANSI/ISA S51.1
๐ฏ Narrow dead band for precise minimum flow detection
๐ก๏ธ Negligible temperature effect
๐ง Field adjustable with no special tools required
๐ญ Rigid quality standards from raw material through finished product
๐
1-year warranty
Beyond water injection minimum flow valve control, the SOR 141 Series works in LPCS minimum bypass, high-pressure core spray minimum bypass, and RCIC steam line high-flow isolation applications.

๐ช Roy Dunlap built SOR Controls Group on a three-legged stool.
Quality. Delivery. Customer Service. Lose one leg and the whole thing falls.
Roy started simple. He loaded switches into the trunk of his car and hit the road. Sometimes he gave products away just to get a company to try them. He believed that if people used a Static "O" Ring pressure switch, they would come back for more.
He was right.
When a hurricane hit an oil rig, the only five pressure switches on site were the ones Roy had left them to try. Every one of them kept working. When the company rebuilt, they ordered Static "O" Ring switches for every rig.
As Roy traveled and the business grew, he looked for distribution partners who shared his philosophy. He found established local businesses already selling similar products and built his worldwide rep network around people who held the same standards he did.
That network, and that three-legged stool, are still standing today.

๐ World Oceans Day.
Industrial facilities that catch leaks early and operate within limits do it with instruments that work. SOR Controls Group builds those instruments, including equipment installed on deepwater offshore platforms where accurate measurement and reliable operation matter most.

โ๏ธ Pumping acids, caustics, or dangerous chemicals from a tank car? You need automatic pump shutdown when the tank runs empty.
A pump left running with no liquid will cavitate and fail. In chemical and petrochemical environments, that failure also means potential leaks and real risk to employees.
The SOR Measurement and Control Explosion Proof Pressure Switch solves this automatically:
๐ Monitors discharge pressure continuously
๐ Normally open contact wired in series with the pump motor starter
๐จ Normally closed contact triggers an alarm when pressure drops
โ๏ธ Calibrated to shut down the pump just above no-flow pressure
๐ Simple manual restart once flow is confirmed
๐ท Frees operators to handle other duties without monitoring the pump
When the tank car empties, pressure drops to the set point, the pump shuts off, and the alarm activates.
No cavitation. No chemical leaks. No pump damage.

๐ญ From a diner conversation to a global instrumentation company. Here is how it started.
In 1951, MechniArts Associates moved to 401 Wyandotte in Kansas City, Missouri. That move marked the official start of what would become SOR Controls Group.
Their first big win came from a practical problem. TWA planes had three different seat widths, which meant three different tray sizes crowding a small galley. Roy Dunlap solved it with one adjustable tray table and a simple thumb dial. That product launched a lifelong business relationship with a young TWA sales rep who walked through the door looking for a solution.
Decades later, on a 1987 TWA flight to England, Roy flipped over his tray table and found the original stainless steel label still riveted underneath: "Product of MechniArts Associates, 401 Wyandotte, KC, MO." Quality built to last.
Then in 1956, Roy overheard two men at a diner complaining about oil tanks overflowing because no pressure switch was accurate enough to control the flow. Roy left his lunch and went back to work.
He partnered with KU Physics Professor Ben Brown. Ben had the theory. Roy had the ability to turn it into something real. One evening Ben talked, Roy sketched, and together they created the Static "O" Ringยฎ pressure switch. That night, the future of SOR in instrumentation was born.
๐ง 80 years of solving problems that matter.

๐ง๏ธ Storm water systems need reliable level measurement. The SOR Measurement and Control 815LT Submersible Smart Level Transmitter delivers exactly that.
Cities use holding tanks to collect storm water runoff before pumping it to treatment facilities. An unreliable transmitter means overflowing tanks, flood damage, and public safety risks.
The SOR 815LT keeps that from happening:
๐ง 4-20mA output controls pumps automatically
๐ฉ 316 stainless steel body resists corrosion
๐ซ PVC self-flushing nosecone resists clogging
๐ช No special mounting brackets required
๐ Minimal maintenance keeps operating costs low
๐ก Simply lower it into the tank and secure at the top
