The Free State Guinea Pig Rescue

It has been brought to my attention that someone is trying to sell t-shirts with my rescue on it. If you see this being marketed on Facebook, can you please report them to Facebook. I don’t want anyone being scammed. I am not trying to market anything related to the rescue at this time. Thank you!

Today I lost one of the guinea pigs who was responsible for encouraging me to open the rescue. Peanut butter was the sweetest little guinea pig with a personality that made sure you didn’t forget to give her a treat. She loved to snuggle but was quick to give nip if you touched her no touch zone! Peanut often snuggled up for movie night and would lick my chin with her tiny tongue. As she aged, and especially through out this past year, she required hand feedings and special supplementary feeds. I didn’t mind though, because that’s what you do as a pet owner. Today, as she was struggling and I knew her time was nearing, I held and comforted her until she passed. That is what it means to be a pet owner, you care for your pet until the end.

I love you Peanut. Rest easy sweet little girl. ❤️

Congratulations to Gizmo! He found fur ever home with Bon Jovi! Gizmo has been at the rescue for 2 years and his mate got sick and needed separate housing. Bon’s buddy passed. So I’m thrilled to have been able to pair these two handsome dudes! ❤️❤️❤️

This is Bear and he belongs to a lovely friend. He decided he didn’t feel well and stopped eating. He’s been receiving sub Q fluids, small force feedings of Critical Care and a hearing pad. He finally started popping over night! Yay for small wins!

Congratulations to Melody and Butter on their adoption. I very kind young lady and her mother came by to adopt them. ❤️

I have some lovely sweet single boys that are looking for their forever home. Some might be willing to make friends! Names are on photos. Girls will be posted tomorrow!

One thing I love to do is share the Guinea pigs with my students. Last week the newest little ladies went to work with me. They were a huge hit with this student!
