Library on Third

It’s been almost seven years since I put up the library on third. It’s been a lot of fun and rewarding. I discovered the little free library concept through a news article. Years later, I came across some and that sparked the idea to make my own.

It’s now time to bid farewell. The cost of upkeep and getting books to keep it stocked has started to become a thing I dread more than enjoy.

I will continue putting out the books I have left for the time being. I know there are other stewards who follow this page. If you are interested in the books I have and or want the physical library please DM me.

Thanks to everyone who have supported the library. It had been a rewarding experience and I hope someone has leaned to enjoy reading as much as I do.

Our library has been used significantly since Christmas which is amazing. Thank you for those who come visit.

8-12 books
Adult fiction

So pretty much everything.

The library is reattached and will be back with books soon. The doors took a pretty good beating. This week I'll be rebuilding the doors.

We hope you have enjoyed the summer. The little library has been very active lately and we are looking for more books. If you have books primarily K-4 grade and 4-9 grade that you would otherwise be discarding or giving to goodwill, we'll take them. Thank you for your continued support.

Sad that I have to post this. For many years, the little library has never had any problems in terms of vandalism. I've seen other little library owners with problems. That trend has come to an end today. The plexiglass window in my library was broken out during the night. I'm grateful it wasn't more than that, but still frustrating that it happened. The window has been replaced but i'm sad that someone thought this would be a good idea.

The new library is up. Stop by and grab a book. There are three levels (to be labeled soon). The top is adult books, middle is Young Adult and bottom is kids. Tomorrow it's going to be taken down so I can add an additional post as it has a little wobble to it.

We are almost ready for the new library to go up. If all goes well, Saturday will be the day. We will probably take the old one down on Friday to prep for Saturday.

It's getting closer. The shingles are on their way and the doors will get done sometime this week also then we'll do some paint touch up. Here are some progress pictures.

Years ago, the library on third was created with leftovers from a home remodel. It has survived the elements far longer than anticipated. The response from the community has been overwhelming. It's time for a remodel. If everything goes as planned then a new and improved library will be installed before the end of the year. The work has started.

If you have any extra or any that your kids have outgrown we would love to take them off your hands!!

Calling all Pokemon Go fans. We're looking for a level 40 player who can put in a request to make our library a PokeStop. If you are or know someone who is and are willing to submit a request, DM us and we'll get you pictures of our library and surrounding areas to submit.
